Good Stuff

"What the Church needs today is not more machinery or better, not new organizations or more and novel methods, but men [and women, of course] whom the Holy Ghost can use - men of prayer, men mighty in prayer. The Holy Ghost does not flow through methods, but through men. He does not come on machinery, but on men. He does not anoint plans, but men - men of prayer."

Application Groups

This Sunday in our 9:30AM Application Groups we will go over the following questions based on the 2/5/2012 sermon, "Wellness in Jesus" from John 5:1-15:
  • Charles Spurgeon says that in John 5 Jesus goes to the assembly of the broken.   How is this good news for the humble, and bad news for the proud?   What does the fruit of humility look like in a Christian's life?   The fruit of pride?
  • Rod said that the lame man who Jesus healed went from the assembly of the broken to the fellowship of the thankful.   Why is this an important pattern for us to follow?
  • What Jesus says to the man in John 5:14 is a bit of a hard saying.    Discuss as a group what Jesus means there.   How should we think about our suffering (& that of others) in light of this verse?   What does the gospel teach us here?
  • Suffering comes into our lives for a number of reasons.  Among them would be: the sins of others, our sin, the brokenness of the world we live in.   What sort of suffering do you (or those close to you) face?   What does praying for "wellness in Jesus" look like in that situation?
