Application Groups
This Sunday in our 9:30AM Application Groups we will go over the following questions based on the 1/29/2012 sermon, "Jesus, the Counter-intuitive Savior of the World" from John 4:39-54:
- Jesus does a surprising thing, and leaves the success of Samaria after only 2 days in order to go to a place where he will receive little honor. Why does he do that?
- One application from the sermon was that Jesus had a controlling direction to his life; a mission that informed everything he did. Do you have have such a passion? What is it? Does yours need to be the same as that of Jesus? Why is it important that there be something under everything in our lives to moves us in a certain direction?
- Many in Jesus' day welcomed Jesus as a sign-worker, but not as a Messiah. What does it look like in a modern context to treat the gifts of Jesus as the ultimate treasure rather than Jesus himself?
- We saw in the text that Jesus often creates faith in people in the midst of this suffering (as with the royal official). Have you found this to be true in your life? Why does Jesus often meet us in our suffering? Is it possible "waste" suffering? If so, how?
