 The Ship's Store in Charlevoix will be stocking stand up paddleboards this year. This sport has become very popular for both entertainment and exercise. New J/70 |
This new race boat is going to be hitting the market like a fire storm. The trailerability, ease of sailing, low cost, and high fun makes this the ideal trailer racer and family fun boat. The New J/70 hull #1 will be in the water for customer demo sails starting April 14 in Newport, Rhode Island. Also, hull #2 will be at Charleston Race Week from April 19-22 for display/demonstration. This is the perfect opportunity to learn about the new boat and go for a sail. At this point hull #1 is in the water, ahead of schedule, and sea-trials are under way.

Waxing, Polishing, and Bottom Paint |
Waxing your boat is very important. A good coat of wax prevents hazing, chalking, and fading caused by the sun. This helps maintain the look and value of your boat. Waxing also makes cleaning your boat easier. Wax creates a protective layer which keeps dirt, exhaust, bugs, and bird droppings from adhering to the gel coat of your boat.
For painted boats we commonly use Awlcare. This polymer sealer gives you a durable, protective finish on painted surfaces. For gelcoated boats we commonly use Collinite Fleetwax which offers a long lasting wax finish. If you're looking to do some buffing before applying your wax we recommend Buff Magic as a very easy to use non-abrasive rubbing compound. For those handy folks that want the very best compound job, try 3M Imperial Rubbing Compound and Finesse-It II. These are just a few of the many products we use and recommend.
A good coat of bottom paint will help keep your boat bottom clean and fast. It will help keep algae and other potentially harmful sea life from growing on your boats bottom. At the same time it will help with performance and fuel efficiency. When it comes to bottom paint, VC-17 is very popular due to the fact that it's freshwater friendly and easy to maintain.
