Power of the Pen: Veterans Write
Tuesdays, May 22, June 5 and June 19 at 5:30pm
This relaxed-format workshop offers a chance for veterans to write and discuss their military experiences using common elements of place, events, memorable people, humor and personal reflection. Regardless of whether you are a first-time or a seasoned writer, veterans attending the three workshop sessions will have a chance to share stories and learn useful ways to document their military experiences for future generations. Free Comic Book Day Saturday, May 5 at 2-4pm
Held annually on the first Saturday in May, Free Comic Book Day is a nationwide event designed to promote literacy and recreational reading by giving away free comic books. Activities will include free snacks, a "take a comic, leave a comic" swap table, a screening of Batman: Gotham Knight, superhero video games available for play and numerous giveaways including a door prize drawing for gift certificates to Rock Bottom Comics and tickets to see Marvel Studios' new summer blockbuster, The Avengers. The event is free and open to all ages. |
