Presented with the Down Syndrome Connection of Northwest Arkansas, this film explores the extraordinary love story of two adults with Down syndrome and the families who strive to support their needs. Monica and David are exceptionally caring and intelligent individuals, who want what most other people want: undefined love, work and independence. Full of romance, humor and everyday family drama, the film weaves intimate fly-on-the wall footage with revealing interviews.

Power of the Pen: Veterans Write 

Tuesdays, May 22, June 5 and June 19 at 5:30pm

 

This relaxed-format workshop offers a chance for veterans to write and discuss their military experiences using common elements of place, events, memorable people, humor and personal reflection.  Regardless of whether you are a first-time or a seasoned writer, veterans attending the three workshop sessions will have a chance to share stories and learn useful ways to document their military experiences for future generations.

Oelsner will read stories from his recently-published memoir, A Country Where All Colors Are Sacred and Alive, and welcome input from those in the audience with related stories of their own experiences of the paranormal and communion with nature. Free Comic Book Day

Held annually on the first Saturday in May, Free Comic Book Day is a nationwide event designed to promote literacy and recreational reading by giving away free comic books. Activities will include free snacks, a "take a comic, leave a comic" swap table, a screening of Batman: Gotham Knight, superhero video games available for play and numerous giveaways including a door prize drawing for gift certificates to Rock Bottom Comics and tickets to see Marvel Studios' new summer blockbuster, The Avengers. The event is free and open to all ages.
