WHO SAYS CARTOONS AREN'T EDUCATIONAL?
"I love this so much I want to marry it" chimed a second grade girl at Sanchez Elementary School while enjoying a frozen fruit bar, her school's prize for winning the Impact on Education 25th Anniversary Animation Contest. Impact on Education's 25th Anniversary Animation Contest engaged students of all ages in creating short animated videos .

On Thursday, April 16th, five excellent BVSD educators - Laurie Brockway, Devorah Dettloff, Jeri Eurich, Sue Kidder and Bill Smith- will be honored with 2009 Impact Awards at the annual Impact Awards dinner.

| BRINGING LIFE TO SCIENCE |
Soon, DNA won't just be a concept in BVSD. Starting next year, thanks to the generosity of Amgen, Array Biopharma and other donors, most BVSD 7th graders will benefit from more hands-on, inquiry-based learning. None too soon! According to a recent survey undertaken by the National Science Foundation, two thirds of Americans are unable to identify DNA as the key to heredity. Read more... |

Last month, twenty-seven middle and high school computer teachers and a sprinkling of BVSD I.T. staff spent their in-service day at Google learning advanced search techniques from the folks who invented search as we know it today. Professionals in Google's Boulder office helped BVSD teachers improve their techniques as part of a partnership Impact on Education developed last year. Read more... |
| TUITION EQUITY IS GOOD FOR OUR ECONOMY |

Imagine working hard to beat the odds, being the first in your family to graduate from high school, being accepted by a State college and having your dream end there?!? Undocumented students in Colorado currently must pay out-of-state college tuition which is 2-5 times more than in-state rates depending upon the school. Senate Bill 170 aims to address this situation.
