Are you having trouble viewing this email? Yes, sometimes. There are a lot of features in the publishing of these Newsletters that make it more as intended and easier to read. Different browsers pick this up in many ways or not at all. At the top of the email there is a "Click here" link. This will open another window that will show this email as an online website page. All the bells and whistles are there. I recommend this each time you open a Newsletter.

It is your registration fee dollars at work.

Frank Angel, in dealing with a long illness, has decided to retire from sailing and his duties to the class as Chief of Staff. He has done so with great regret after decades of promoting model sailing, the AMYA and supporting the EC12 Class. Frank's deeper involvement in the class was instrumental in my running for CS. Has been invaluable and responsible step by step for the grow and progress in the class, as it is today and over the last over the last six years. We started with no membership communications, little organization of activities and no protection for the hull standard. He was on the ground floor and grounded in the efforts through that time. We all will miss his personal hand and inspiration in his love for sailing and dedicated perfection in his help and duties. Thank you, Uncle Frank.

After a 60 day search, Tom Phillips has been added to the class staff. Tom and Cheryl landed along the Intercoastal Waterway in Saint Augustine following a career in corporate regional management. He is a RC sailing traveler and part of the Jacksonville group. Tom was one of the orginal founders of the Atlanta MYC in the 1970s and competently sails 2265, a

You will be seeing and hearing more from him, as he finds his way around the class Internet office and his volunteer service to the class as Chief of Staff. Tom will also be co-author of this newsletter. Please welcome Tom Phillips.

Class Business Information

The Champions Regatta Series has one month to go with two events in Florida to complete that series. The CRS pages are updated for the other three that have been completed. New England winner was Chuck Luscomb, Colonial Danny Thomas and Dixie with Gerry Cobley. Congratulations guys; will do a total spread when Florida is complete.

The Champions Regatta roster for mid March is being filled in with the top five in each series. That does not mean that all will go to Charleston, so watch this listing as it changes and stated that it is final. Reichard Kahle and Rick Gerry will run the CR event.

The Colonial series will be trying something new in 2011 by adding an event to the scoring of their series from outside their realm. This will bolster their short schedule but also encourage more to travel. Earlier in the decade there was a lot of traveling and many miss those infrequent visits with friends. They will do this with Mystic. This does not remove the event from New England and their scoring but adds it to Colonial's. This is an interesting concept and think you will like it.

The 2011 sailing schedule is currently being built as the information comes in. What you see at the link is not official till the red ink goes away. However, competitors looking for first quarter events should monitor this page for the latest. The season will start in January this time with Naples planning an event for mid month. It too is not official but a good bet.

Most of the Florida sailors know this but for the rest of the class, the FLA will sail a shorten 2011 schedule that will end in May. Then in October they will start the 2012 sailing schedule that will run to May of that year. This will position the FLA to have a continuous schedule with that calendar arrangement and provide continuity in racing for the series. It will also serve to accommodate many of the snowbirds while they are in the state.

Annapolis Regatta

Danny ThomasIt was a battle at Sandy Point in varying winds by three national champions. After 25 single fleet races DT prevailed with 11 kills (bullets) painted on along the cockpit and 47 points after tosses. David Brawner was six points behind after winning the first day with 53 points. Mark "Pinky" Rinehart edged out Dave Ramos with 68 points over Dave's 70. Doug Hutchinson rounded out the podium with 131 points. More... at the bottom.
Thanks to Ernie Freeland and team for this second annual.
