What year?

Time Machine
It was a typical late September morning 24 years ago where the center of the EC12 world would become. If you have not been there, you have not been home to this heritage place. Only quietly is it about sailing. It is a place to gather and remember and trade tales.

 White Rose
This was a fun and competitive regatta with four class champions and good sailors. The Lake Redman venue presented a mix of B and A rigs over a long course in good weather. Doug Wotring was the hosting RD with Chuck Aiken assisting and feeding the fleet Saturday night. Mark Rinehart emerged on Sunday with Jarl Wathne, Danny Thomas, Dave Ramos and Rick West following. Full Report and Results.
Where was David Brawner? After posting 4 bullets and 8 points in the first 6 races, he stepped into a grass covered hole where a metal culvert was lurking to slice open his right foot over the heel. It narrowly missing the Achilles Tendon. Fred Mauer pulled out and took David to the hospital where the repair was documented.
Both were done for the event with Brawner lounging in the front row Sunday passing friendly verbal abuse around the fleet.

 Camp Dearborn - R4CR
Ah Dah-ling, you were suburb, as a good Viking on the water and a class champion should be. Gerhard Kelter blew the fleet away in some of the most trying conditions we have seen in some time; flat water and still air with 30 points over second place Rick West. Rob Hill followed with Bernie Pepin (CAN) and Jim Hale rounding out the top five.
Scores and comments are posted on 12 Discussions.

Sailing Schedule Stuff
There will be boats on the pond at the Commodore Inn in Stowe this weekend. The 12th it will be Elon in North Carolina. Florida is shut down till October and most have left the state. There are no events this year in July till the three day Mystic event in mid AugustThen it is the NCR at Stowe just after Labor Day ending all the majors.
A gathering was held at the Altoona location of the Atlanta Yacht Club to promote the EC12. This was at the request of the AYC and presented by the AMYA AMYC #47. Ian Elliott produced this fine newsletter featuring the Gone With The Wind event as part of the promotion. AYC is building a fleet from used boats at this time.
For those of you that also have J Class boats and have not heard, there is a gathering at Charleston for one day of playing and two days of racing mid week July 12-14. This is a good chance for the Florida crowd.
Please check the Florida website for all information on regattas in that state.

Photo Contest
We are going to do this again this year. Take your best images from anywhere about the EC12 and the people. Send them to Mike Cavanaugh at State College. The rules are simple and this should be fun. The prize is a free AMYA membership of your choosing or renewal. Check out this link for more information, contest and rules.
