Danny Thomas Wins Champions Regatta
The Champions regatta was this month in Charleston and sailing by the top scorers in the four series of the year long program. It was a very rocky start; as Danny and last year's winner, Reichard Kahle, were in a non injury car accident on the way to the lake Saturday morning. With boat repairs and a breeze freshening to over 15 knots the story of this event is a classic read. See this Link.
Rounding out the poduim with DT in order were; Alan Perkins, Dave Ramos, Baron Bremer and Reichard Kahle. Congratulations all. |
A Review
If you have registered a new boat or transfered one in the last 5 years, you have a card like this. Likewise, a new registration will also have a certificate label glassed on the inside of the boat. Beginning at the same time the information in the hull is permanent and part of the boat by Class registration policy.
6025, shown here, is the Yacht Registration Number (YRN) and will not be changed or moved to another boat hull while the registered boat exists. This belongs to the boat and not the owner.
There is small print on the back of the card that allows the owner to print sails for all the boats owned by the individual using one YRN. The boat YRN used must be registered to the owner. This is an accommodation only for convenience. Circumstance outside the parties involved will be handled between them and the Class and authorized by the Class.
The full registration policy and process is to provided the owner and a buyer they are getting a certified EC12 in the marketplace. It protects the Class authorized hull manufacturers from bootleggers, certifies the hull is produced from Class owned molds and validates the hull, as being a one-design. Lastly, it provides a history of the boat, as long as she exists and maybe legend beyond.

EC12 System Board
The System Board was developed over the last two years by several innovators with others adding their spin. It is now spreading throughout the Class, as a major upgrade to new boat building and refitting old ones. If you have not looked at this unit, go to the Building Site for more photos and text.
This will not make you faster but will allow convenience in refitting boats with swing arm sheetlines and the ones with hard mounted bow blocks. Moreover, the refitting does not need to have the deck removed to install this system. Why? The board you will see is a one piece structure that integrates all electronics with sheetline delivery on one platform and entirely removable in 120 seconds.
The system allows easy access to repairs at the lake. Some competitors that travel may bring another fully operational system with them. It can be easily installed in between heats. |
