Welcome Aboard
Chesapeake Performance Models joins the Class Suppliers List, as an approved hull manufacturer. CPM is a commercial retail company serving model sailing in several classes. CPM is noted for building and retailing ready to sail boats and this approval will provide the business with its own supply line source for EC12 products. Owner Dave Ramos is producing hulls now but will not be tooled for the short kit (hulls, decks, rudders and ballast) the last week of the month. |
Correction Regarding Rule 18
by Bill Worrall
A couple of months ago Tom Germer, Jacksonville MYC and EC-12 sailor, contacted me as author of Let's Race With The Rules, regarding a statement made about Rule 18 and giving mark-room at a starting mark. The statement was found to be in error.
A correction and explanation regarding this can be found here.

Elections
This is the time of year we reminder the Class that filings of motions and nominations for the Fall elections are due by 3 March. The entire Executive Board; President, Vice President and Treasury Officer positions are open this year. The Region One Director is open from an appointment before. Region 2 is open also. All the above will need nominations with John Hanks,
.AMYA Executtive Secretary.
Eleven Class Secretaries are up for election. Those that are open are automatically nominated by the bylaws. Any wishing to oppose these CS positions must file a nomination to create an election in that Class.
You will not know the result of these filings before the deadline but sometime in early summer in Model Yachting.
It is your AMYA
AMYA Membership
Just a reminder to make sure you've renewed your membership, as a very large number of the EC12 Class membership will expire on 03-31-10. So check your AMYA Card to be sure you're current, as you are required to be a member for all Regional and National events.
If you hold an elected office, like Class Secretary, failure to renew your membership will result in termination of your position without a reminder notice. It is the Bylaws now. |
Building Site
A new section has been added for Contributing Editors. Here builders will be able to present contributions in sharing their innovations and techniques in model sailing from building to articles about sailing. Presentations are to be completed by the author in the format of the site in Word text with original photo image files. |
33rd America's Cup
Thanks partly, to the constant court appeals and requests for redress by Ellison and Bertarelli there will be no live TV coverage in the United States. Europeans will be able to watch the race live on Eurosport.
Some of you will be able to watch a live webcast on ESPN360, if your Internet Provider has access to ESPN360, which mine does not.
There may or may not be something to look at on Americascup.com. If there is, you'll need to be at your computer at 3:45 am EST this Monday the 8th.The lucky folks on the West Coast can just stay up after the Super Bowl.
Comment: You may have noticed that Uncle Frank is not happy about this turn of events. As a long time skipper of an R/C EC12 Meter and fan of the America's Cup, it's my opinion that the two gentlemen mentioned above have turned the clock back to the 1970's for the A/C Series. The only thing to be learned is, which is faster, a 90-foot Catamaran or a 90-foot Trimaran. I may just stay in bed. |
