JEFFERSON CITY OUTDOORS GROUP LAUNCHES WEBSITE

Promotion of recreational & competitive events meant to support active lifestyles

JEFFERSON CITY, MO. March 7th, 2012 - In 2010, the Jefferson City Convention & Visitors Bureau formed the Jefferson City Outdoors group. Intended to provide outdoor recreational and competitive opportunities to encourage active lifestyles, community development and the enjoyment of Jefferson City's unique natural resources for residents and visitors, the Jefferson City Outdoors group recently launched a brand new website.

The Jefferson City Outdoors website, www.JeffersonCityOutdoors.com, will function as a central hub where those looking for information can learn about outdoor and adventure sports activities in Jefferson City.

"Jefferson City is a remarkable backdrop for outdoor events with its array of settings which outdoor enthusiasts can take advantage of," said Chris Wilson, Jefferson City Convention & Visitors Bureau sports sales manager. "The Missouri River, the Katy Trail, Binder Park, the Greenway Trail-these venues are just a few of many to choose from if you are looking to get outside and get physical. We believe the Jefferson City Outdoors website will create a forum for sharing and learning about recreational & competitive events in the area."

"We are tremendously happy to have the Jefferson City Outdoors website up and running," said Jefferson City Convention & Visitors Bureau communications manager Ryan Winkler. "The ability to share information and news about upcoming outdoors events on a grander scale will undoubtedly boost participation from both residents and visitors."

The Jefferson City Outdoors website offers an event calendar which features upcoming races such as the Capital City Adventure Race, a multi-sport event which showcases Jefferson City's natural resources and historic structures. The race will be held on Saturday, May 5th and many of the elements are kept secret until then. Participants can expect running, canoeing, cycling and maybe even a surprise element.
