Made your list, checked it twice and still need the perfect gift for an MSP fan?

This year the Missouri State Penitentiary is offering a Prison Gift Package for MSP fans young and old. The package, priced at $80 (+shipping and handling), includes the brand new Missouri State Penitentiary DVD, two $12 gift certificates to use on a prison tour, a copy of the Shanks to Shakers coffee table book, and a t-shirt of your choice.

Shanks to Shakers cover

  • The newly released Missouri State Penitentiary DVD features numerous first-hand accounts of events which occurred within the walls of the prison. Viewers will see recorded narratives of notorious prisoners and escapes, explanation of the Pennsylvania and Auburn Systems for treatment of prisoners and other tales of murder and mayhem.
  • The two $12 MSP Gift Certificates are good for two 2-hour history tours. The amount can also be applied towards another type of tour if you would like to upgrade. Gift Certificates are valid for 2012 only.
  • The coffee table book Shanks to Shakers: Reflections of the Missouri State Penitentiary by Mark Schreiber showcases rare, historical, collectible MSP artifacts. The book documents vintage photos, prison-made artwork, weapons and salt and pepper shakers once sold in the prison gift shop.
  • MSP t-shirts are a must-have for any prison enthusiast. Options range from the new Ghost Tour design to the popular "I Did Time" style. Shirts with individual notorious inmates are available as well. Sizes include S, M, L, XL & XXL.

For a full list of other available MSP souvenirs visit www.MissouriPenTours.com or contact Sheila at (866) 998-6998 or sheila@visitjeffersoncity.com.

Kids from one to 92 will not want to miss Jefferson City's Holiday Shows

Jefferson City residents are busy rehearsing for a merry assortment of Holiday Shows this year. Family fun for all ages can be had thanks to the capital city's thriving arts scene.

The Stained Glass Theater's production of "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" is sure to entertain. In this hilarious Christmas tale, a couple struggling to put on a church Christmas pageant is faced with casting the Herdman kids - some of the most inventively awful kids in history. You won't believe the mayhem - and fun - when the Herdmans collide with the Christmas story head on! December 1st - 17th. For tickets visit www.sgtmidmo.org.

Come hear Jefferson City choirs singing carols to benefit the Habitat for Humanity on December 5th at the Miller Performing Arts Center. The event, free and open to the public, will include a free will offering to collect funds for Habitat for Humanity's Housing ministry. For more details call (573) 635-8439.

The Jefferson City Cantorum will present "Sing We Now of Christmas" at the Miller Performing Arts Center on December 10th. Come hear songs and carols of the season in Jefferson City's finest concert hall. This is the Cantorum's 44th year performing for Jefferson City audiences. For more details call (573) 893-5279.
