Missouri State Penitentiary in the running to win $25,000

The Missouri State Penitentiary is in the running to receive $25,000 from the National Trust for Historic Preservation through their "This Place Matters" contest.
As of last Friday, the Missouri State Penitentiary was in 21st place out of 101 entries. Only one historic place will be awarded the $25,000 grant.
Voting ends Wednesday, September 15. The Jefferson City Convention and Visitors Bureau's Discover Jefferson City Foundation will use the $25,000 to increase the historical atmosphere by offering themed tours and reconstructing cells of infamous inmates, such as Sonny Liston.
