Jefferson City's Events Fill the 2010 Calendar but Won't Bust the Budget
Ice shows, adventure races, outdoor movies and spectacular theater productions await those who visit Jefferson City in 2010. Jefferson City, once again, has put together a full lineup of special events throughout the year, many of which are free.
Some of the newer events to be added Jefferson City's calendar are Thursday Night Live concerts on the streets of downtown, "Stars Under the Stars" Outdoor Movie Series (pictured at right), Show-Me Beer Festival and the Capital City Cookoff barbecue competition.
The capitol grounds plays host to many events such as the Cultural Concerts in August and September and the Outdoor Movie Series in June, July and August. A large inflatable screen set up in the shadow of the capitol dome will show movie classics "A League of Their Own", "The Wizard of Oz" and "The Little Rascals."
Jefferson City's events are perfectly suited for those with a tight budget because the majority of them are free, including long-running, annual events such as Salute to America Fourth of July Celebration, Kidsfest, Harvestfest, Oktoberfest, Governor's Mansion Candlelight Tours and Living Windows Christmas Showcase. For specific details on all of Jefferson City's events, go to www.VisitJeffersonCity.com.
All of these events and more are outlined in the 2010 Calendar of Events, available at the Jefferson City Convention and Visitors Bureau. Stop by and pick up your copy or call (800) 769-4183 and request one. |
CVB Uses Microsoft Tag
The Convention and Visitors Bureau is enlisting another new technological feature in some of its advertisements and other collateral material. The Microsoft Tag (shown below) can be customized and linked directly to whatever web site you choose, ours links directly to www.VisitJeffersonCity.com. All you, as the user, have to do is download the free app for your smart phone, aim your phone at the image, wait for the image to register (it should take only seconds) and your phone will automatically open your web browser to our web site. Try it, it's pretty cool!
The tag on the left is a demonstration of how you can customize your tag, the one on the right is the basic template; they both create the same end result. Microsoft provides statistics on the use of each tag you create so we can tell how many people are utilizing this free tool.
