2010 Tour of Missouri: Jefferson City wants a piece of the action
The Tour of Missouri is still scheduled to come to the state next fall and Jefferson City has once again thrown its hat in the ring to be included as a host city. The Jefferson City/ Cole County Tour of Missouri Foundation submitted a proposal to Tour of Missouri, Inc to be considered as a finish city for the 2010 event.
The Tour of Missouri has had a tremendous economic impact on the state, bringing in $38.1 million, up $9 million from 2008 (according to IFM Sports, who conducts the event surveys and compiles the information.) In Jefferson City alone, the attendance was 71,000 and the estimated economic impact was nearly $5.5 million.
Cities who submitted a proposal are to be notified of inclusion as a host city in January. |
