MISSOURI STATE PENITENTIARY SOUVENIRS NOW AVAILABLE AT JEFFERSON CITY CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU

Jefferson City, Missouri - November 3, 2009
Tours of the Missouri State Penitentiary (MSP) are winding down for the winter, but that's not the only way to get a piece of MSP action.

The Jefferson City Convention and Visitors Bureau now has a variety of prison souvenirs for sale at its office, 100 E. High Street, and online, www.MissouriPenTours.com.

A great way to commemorate a visit to MSP, souvenirs such as license plates, key chains, leather wallets, leather coasters, postcards and artwork are now available.  If you would rather sport some MSP items on your person, the Bureau has t-shirts, both black and white striped and orange, hats and totes.

One of the unique items is a piece of the Missouri State Penitentiary wall.  The wall has long been recognized as the main identifying image of MSP.  As the prison grounds have evolved over the past couple of years, sections of the wall have been knocked down.  This rubble has been saved, though, and now the Bureau is able to sell pieces of the prison wall.  Each piece has a small plaque on it that says "Missouri State Penitentiary, 1836-2004."

All of the souvenirs are handmade by inmates in one of Missouri's correctional facilities. Items range in price from $3 (keychain) to $45 (framed artwork).  All items can be viewed and purchased online at www.MissouriPenTours.com, under the "Store" section.
