Let the CVB help promote your event
The Jefferson City Convention and Visitors Bureau is gathering information about events taking place in Jefferson City in 2010.  These events will be listed on the Bureau's web site, www.VisitJeffersonCity.com, included in the 2010 Calendar of Events brochure and distributed to a variety of media outlets throughout the year.
This information is beneficial to Jefferson City hotels as well as visitors to our city. Sarah Stroesser, communications manager, said the Bureau hopes to create a calendar that showcases events that will entice people from outside of Jefferson City to visit.
"The Bureau is not only interested in events that bring overnight visitors to Jefferson City," Stroesser said, "But also community events that might encourage people to make day trips to the city.  These listings should be a benefit to both visitors and residents of our community."
Any organization interested in having its event included in the Bureau's Calendar of Events should submit the following information: name of the event, sponsoring organization, date and time, location, brief description of the event, contact name, number, web site, e-mail and admission fee.  The Jefferson City CVB retains full rights to edit any and all materials submitted; submission is not guaranteed.
For more information or to submit entries, contact Sarah Stroesser at (573) 632-2820 or sarah@visitjeffersoncity.com.  Entries may also be faxed to (573) 638-4892 or entered here on the web site.

Stroesser on Newsleaders
Mediacom NewsleadersSarah Stroesser, communications mananger, was recently featured on a segment called NewsLeaders.  Mediacom produces about a dozen 5 minute news interviews with Columbia and Jefferson City people who share information about their business. The interviews played at the top and the bottom of each hour on CNN Headline news, Channel 43 for Mediacom customers, and was also online in October. Sarah talks about the Missouri State Penitentiary and other popular attractions in Jefferson City. Click here to watch the interview.
Bureau's Holiday Ad Campaign
MO Life AdMake your own Christmas Story in Jefferson City! The Bureau has chosen "A Christmas Story" theme to invited visitors to Jefferson City for our holiday events.  The holiday weekend starts December 3 with the lighting of the Mayor's Christmas Tree and continues until December 5. Downtown Living Windows, Candlelight Tours at the Governor's Mansion and the Christmas Parade are some of the other events going on. Watch for more information in next month's newsletter or go to http://visitjeffersoncity.com/event-calendar/december/.
Helton attends T.E.A.M.S. conference
Daniel Helton, Bureau sports sales manager, attended T.E.A.M.S. conference in New Orleans October 13-17.  Representatives from 16 Missouri communities shared a booth to promote sporting events in Missouri. Sports planners from across the country attend this conference to find new locations to host their sporting event. Helton met with a variety of planners to discuss their specific needs in a host venue.
"The TEAMS Conference is such a great event for the CVB," said Helton. "The networking and educational opportunities are an invaluable asset for expanding our reach into the sports travel market. As part of Show Me Missouri Sports, my colleagues and I had the chance to interact directly with event rights holders from many sports organizations. We also had the opportunity to make new contacts and improve existing relationships. The educational sessions exposed current challenges in the industry and offered advice for working around those obstacles. I hope to bring new sporting events to Jefferson City as a direct result of TEAMS 2009."
