A glance at Jefferson City's visitor profile
The Jefferson City Convention and Visitors Bureau recently received the results of its 2008-2009 visitor profile. The Bureau will use these results to plan its future advertising and marketing approaches. Here are some of the results:
· Jefferson City visitors say they among Missouri destinations they are most likely to visit St. Louis, Branson or Jefferson City. Most are visiting for personal or leisure purposes, but nearly 4 in 10 are in the area for business which is a little higher than average. Like most destinations the summer months are the busiest for Jefferson City and visit fairly equally between weekends, week days and a mix of both.
· The Missouri State Capitol, Shopping (both Capitol Mall, downtown and other), and the Governor's Mansion are the most popular activities and attractions visited in Jefferson City.
· Those who visited VisitJeffersonCity.com said they were primarily looking for things to do (75%), places to eat (63%), places to stay (53%), or directions/maps (45%). One-third say they visited the Interactive Visitors Guide, but nearly half said they were not even aware that the website had an interactive visitors guide. Women are more likely to be the decision maker than men, but most respondents said their Jefferson City trip was a shared decision.
· Travelers give Jefferson City high marks for overall satisfaction, intent-to-recommend, and historical attractions. However, the scores for variety and value for the money fall much further behind.
· That's a bit problematic given that these same travelers say that price/affordability, attractions/events/festivals, and the range of activities available are the most important factors they consider when selecting a destination to visit.
