Lodging tax renewal on February ballot

Vote to promote Jefferson City! Every year, tourists visit our city because of the
promotional efforts of the Jefferson City Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB). These visitors spend hundreds of thousands of dollars here and, in addition, provide 100 percent of the funding for the CVB through the 3 percent lodging tax they pay at local hotels and motels.First enacted in 1989, the lodging tax is up for renewal in the February 3 municipal election. Please vote "Yes" on Proposition A to continue the work of the CVB. Remember, the lodging tax is paid by only those who stay at our hotels and motels. Read more...

2008 was great for the Jefferson City CVB
The Jefferson City Convention and Visitors Bureau completed numerous projects and accomplished great things in 2008.  Some highlights include the redesign of the Bureau web site, printing of the newly formatted Meeting Planners Guide and Downtown Walking Tour brochure.  Besides producing these collateral materials, the Bureau received a fair amount of editorial coverage.  Jefferson City was featured in 16 regional publications, highlighted 22 times in the local newspaper and participated in nearly 30 other media appearances.  The sales staff generated 78 sales leads, up from 70 in 2007, which garnered an estimated economic impact of just over $2 million ($1.7 million in 2007).  The number of visitor inquiries totaled close to 15,000, more than doubling last year's total.  The web site continues to draw in hundreds of thousands of unique visitors from across the country and worldwide. The Bureau has plans to exceed these impressive statistics in 2009.
