Dear Greenheart Friends,
2012, the highly heralded year of transformational change, is finally here. For a long time I have visualized this year as a symbolic date for the great shift that civilization needs. The next twelve months, of course, is not enough to make a significant difference in the structures of social organization, but it can give us the time to make a huge leap in our personal understanding of the situation and therefore in our commitment to take action and be the change on a psychospiritual level.
There does not appear to be any reason to expect tumultuous upheaval in this year more than any other, but we can anticipate more of the on-going wake up call that nature is providing us. These are turbulent times, and they will continue in a gradually increasing manner, until we do indeed alert ourselves to the need to change our ways.
Let's think of 2012 as an alarm clock. When it goes off it shakes us out of a sleep cycle and stirs us into the action of facing the reality of here and now. Hopefully, we are wise enough to use a modern day alarm, which gradually increases the light to wake us naturally or intones some chimes or harp music to gently tell our minds that the moment for a shift in consciousness has arrived. So, may this year be the one that we see a growing light and a soft, melodious, but constant, reminder that it is time to truly wake up to a new state of higher consciousness.

The Most Important Year of Our Lifetime
In both the literal and symbolic sense, we are living in a time of great evolutionary change, and in my opinion, we can't really talk about what the year 2012 means for us as a global community without addressing the Mayan calendar and its prophesies surrounding this momentous year.
Now what, we might ask, does this mean for us normal human beings sitting at home trying to get a grasp on personal transformation? I think this is the time, or at least this is a good enough symbol, to say 'now is our moment.' Read more..

In this long term practice, we must be disciplined and aware of our emotional and spiritual state of being. It's surprising how conscious we are of our social behavior; we wouldn't sit at a table and belch, yet when it comes to our mental state, we let ourselves do all sorts of sloppy things. We assume that nobody pays attention to the emotional state we inhabit, or that our personal emotions won't affect others.
