Dear Greenheart Friends,
November has been an exciting month with inspiring, weekly book club meetings, the implementation of our community Integral Transformative Practice and my upcoming talk: The Second Coming of Consciousness; Why the Global Good Trumps the Separate Self. I'm really looking forward to this next talk, because it will summarize my series of seven previous lectures into what I hope will be a holistic vision of our transformation of consciousness.
For as complicated as this evolutionary philosophy might sound, the basic concepts are really quite simple and easy to understand. I think we are all ready to embrace and engage in a deeper understanding of the transformative process in these critical times.
Most importantly, this talk focuses on the social component by steering us away from the concentration on individual enlightenment, and explores enlightenment as a result of taking social action. Up until now, the common understanding of achieving higher consciousness has been associated with some sort of introspective state achieved by the individual in an isolated setting. That might be fine for the individual experiencing this, but from my point of view, it means very little unless it is somehow shared with others. In this talk I will emphasize the need to move outward instead of inward, allowing our new understanding to be expanded upon in a ripple effect throughout society.
This means converting words into action, moving beyond mere empathy for the worlds' problems, and heeding a call to actively solve them. As Thoreau said, "Aim above morality, be not simply good, be good for something. " In other words, it's no longer good enough to have high sounding moral values, but rather it is necessary to put those values to work, influencing others and working together in a community effort to solve the challenges within our society.
Peace,
Emanuel

From Power of One, to the Power of Many
In order to express the depth of my own feelings about social transformation, it's fair to say this has been a passion for the last forty years or more. Having seen in the late 60s and early 70s, the beginnings of an energy crisis and potential world conflicts threatening civilization as we know it, I dedicated my life and livelihood to doing whatever I could to raise awareness to these issues to overcome the divisions that politics, religion and cultural upbringing have established today.
A lot of time has passed, the obstacles are increasing, the stakes are getting higher and the crisis is deepening, but it is never too late to act. In fact, the depth of the crisis is in many ways our greatest ally in coming together and finding solutions. The deeper the problem, the more people will rally and the more creative the answers will be. But I have always been by nature an optimist, and while I often call attention to the severity of the challenges we face, it has always been in the sense of focusing on the need to find solutions rather than merely broadcasting a doomsday scenario.
Now, more than ever, I remain in the optimist camp. I truly believe in the evolutionary potential and innate goodwill of human consciousness to work together and create reasonable, practical and innovative solutions to the global crisis.
This requires leaving many of our preconceived concepts and cherished notions behind, and truly opening our minds to new, broader visions about who we are and what we can be. The evolution of the individual into the separate self is now coming to an end.

"As we ponder the problems of the world, like the uncontrolled growth of weapons and guns, it seems a daunting task to find a solution to these social epidemics and negative tendencies. What can we, as individuals, do to counter such powerful forces? Read more...
