Dear Friends,
It is with transformative enthusiasm that we send you this first edition of the Greenheart Transforms newsletter. It is my hope that this will help keep you all on the new edge of best transformative practices. In this issue you will find information about transformation through meditation, our new book/research club and a workshop on Integral Transformative Practices (ITP) in Chicago.
At the IONS conference I also attended a seminar with Rick Hanson, author of "Buddha's Brain: The Practical Neuroscience of Happiness, Love and Wisdom" and the website Buddha's brain.com. Dr. Hanson went over many of the concepts of the brain's neuroplasticity that I had presented in "The Magic of the Mind," and then went on to explain that the brain is basically hardwired to absorb the bad, whereas the good moments disappear like water through a sieve unless we make a conscious effort to retain them, by taking in the good.
Thus, I urge our readers to take in the positive experiences of life, concentrate on them, enjoy them, and let them live on in your brains. May this newsletter also be a source for taking in the best of transformative ideas and making them work as our minds evolve into higher consciousness.
Namaste,
Emanuel

Transformation In Meditation
Introspective meditation is the most important part of transformation. This means connecting with the Field of Consciousness, and drawing our inspiration from it. It's the software of everything we are going to program in our lives. We have to figure out how to access this software and meditation is one way to interface with the Field.
Meditation can be lots of things. This doesn't mean you have to be sitting crossed-legged on a mat for hours on end. If you want to do self anaylysis and have the rudimentary idea of what meditation is for you. Effective methods like going for the "long walk," can empty your mind. Tactics for Transformation: ITP
In July I had the pleasure of attending the annual conference of the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) in San Francisco, and I came away with many new ideas and friends as a result of this amazing event.
After attending a workshop with Pamela Kramer and Barry Robbins of ITP, I decided that I would like to offer this practice, initially developed by Michael Murphy and George Leonard at the Esalen Institute, to our Greenheart friends in Chicago.
Integral Transformative PracticeŽ (ITP) is a pioneering program for transforming body, mind, heart and soul through comprehensive, long-term practice.
This Chicago interactive weekend workshop integrates movement, meditation, relaxation techniques and mind/body exercises that result in increased vitality, personal empowerment and joy. Presented by Pam Kramer and Barry Robbins to groups around the globe, ITP is a non-guru practice with multiple teachers and multiple practices with focus on nurturing your entire being in these ways:
- practicing the Kata (a 40-minute series of mind-body-spirit exercises)
- aerobic exercise
- positive affirmations
- conscious eating
- cultivation of intellectual powers through reading, writing and discussion
- peaceful and constructive communications using the practice of Staying Current
- support of self and others on the path of transformation
Sign up for Chicago's first ever Integral Transformative Practice (ITO) workshop hosted by Yoga Now and Greenheart Oct. 29 - 30.
