New Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) Director.

 Maryland State Flag

Frank Kirkland has been appointed to the position of Director of the Developmental Disabilities Administration effective August 1, 2011. Mr. Kirkland has more than 20 years of broad experience in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities including leadership of the Division of Developmental Disabilities in West Virginia, and most recently, his service as Assistant Director for Individualized Services for the Division of Developmental Disabilities with the New Jersey Department of Human Services. While in this position, he led the effort to implement self-directed services and oversaw all day and employment services.

"We at The Arc look forward to Mr. Kirkland's leadership and are eager to work with him in moving Maryland forward in the coming years," says Mac Ramsey, Executive Director. We hope to arrange for him to visit Prince George's County early in his tenure to meet and greet families, individuals, and providers and to learn of the many excellent programs and services here in the County.

Internships lead to opportunity at The Arc.

John Statsuick
John Statsuick, 2010-2011 intern, now an Arc employee

Interns have become an integral part of The Arc.

During the last school year over 25 interns from multiple colleges and universities helped us achieve our mission. They can be found hard at work in our Family Services, Infants & Toddlers, Residential, Nursing and Communications Departments.

"Having the interns has been very beneficial," says Melonee Clark, Family Specialist at The Arc. "Both the quality and the quantity of my work has increased since I've been able to work with them. They help me with research and planning activities and projects, and they even help take on some of my case management duties."   Click here to read more.

Have you noticed The Arc's new logo? It's featured on all of our signs, at our program locations, and on vans throughout the county. This new brand is part of a national initiative to unify and strengthen The Arc's presence across the country, so that we may better serve and advocate for our constituents. Did you know, for example, that there are over 700 Arc chapters nation-wide? Thanks for your continued support of our chapter here in Prince George's County!
