Arc Notes

May 2011

Victory for Maryland Families!

Mother

Thank you to all the grassroots advocates who helped make the recent passage of the alcohol tax bill possible!  The Bill passed the full Senate and House on the last day of the session and adds an additional 3% sales tax for alcohol at the point of sale, effective July 1, 2011. $15 million of the revenue raised is dedicated to the Developmental Disabilities Waiting List. In addition, these new funds will be matched by another approximately $13 million in Federal funds. This combined $28 million will provide desperately needed services to more than 500 people in the most critical need of support.

Please don't forget to thank your representatives who supported the passage of this bill. Click here for the Senate voting record and click here for the House voting record.
