| New Funding Available for Families! |
The Arc is pleased to announce that we have been awarded a grant in collaboration with The Arcs of Montgomery County and Southern Maryland, to assist families seeking Low Intensity Support Services (LISS). This grant will provide hundreds of children and adults with developmental disabilities, and their families, access to resources and supports that will enhance their lives. While LISS funds are similar to what many people know as Rolling Access, changes have been made to the eligibility process and program implementation. Click here to read more about LISS and to access an application for services. Contact Karen Oliver at 1-877-967-5272, ext. 245 for more information. | |

| New alcohol tax to support disability programs is put on the table. |
|
A new 10 cent per alcoholic drink tax bill sponsored by Senator Madelena and Delegate Bronrott gained support from multiple health and advocacy groups. The proposed tax will provide funding for people with developmental disabilities, addictions, and mental health concerns, as well as the initiative Health Care For All. The Arc is hopeful that collaboration between members of these four interest groups will help push the bill through this year. You are welcome to attend a press conference to announce the broader partnership and expanded bill on January 12th at the Lowe House Office Building, Rm 170, Annapolis. Contact The Arc of MD at 410-571-9320 for details. |
| Thank you for your generous support! |
The 2009 Holiday Appeal brought in over $14,000! These funds will go toward the expansion and renovation of The Arc's Respite Home. With these renovations, we will have a home that can easily provide live-in staff not just for weekends, but also for every day of the week. Thank you for giving the gift of respite to families in our community! You can still donate to the Respite House renovations by clicking here. |

| January Spotlight: Family Reunion Success! Thank you Sarah Petit Fund! |
The warm mist of salt water, the swaying sound of palm trees and the smell of luau food may not be the family reunion scene that many party goers are accustomed to in Prince George's County. But for Brian Lee, this was a normal family get together for him last summer.
