Victory YMCA Members Make a Healthy Step Forward

The Victory YMCA challenged all members to participate in a nationwide movement called Activate America the week of September 21 - 28th.  YMCAs across the nation challenged members to get moving towards healthier lifestyles and to lead active lives.  Here at the Victory YMCA, our members were challenged to help us meet a goal of 13 million steps in just this one week time period.  By the end of the week, we reached our goal and actually achieved 21,090,614 steps!  Way to go Victory YMCA members!

We would like to recognize our two outstanding participants and the steps they achieved.  Ron MacGregor was our standout male participant with 148,630 steps.  Next, Martha Cueva had an impressive 206,413 steps total at the end of the week.  Thank you both for helping the Victory YMCA step forward in the right direction!

Family Volunteer Day Reaches Out to the Community

This Thanksgiving season, the Victory Family YMCA will be hosting its annual Family Volunteer Day on Saturday, November 22nd.

Throughout the month of November, the Victory YMCA is collecting nonperishable food items to give to local families in need for Thanksgiving.  Local groups, schools, clubs, and businesses are encouraged to help us by hosting their own food drive and bringing the food to the Y for distribution.

After all the food is collected and sorted, families and friends are invited to join us on November 22nd from 9am - 11am to decorate boxes and fill them with food for families in our community that need assistance.

For more information about hosting your own food drive or helping at Family Volunteer Day, please contact Donna Blake at (757) 867-3300 x 212.
