Wow, there is just so much happening in November - I can't believe it.   There is hardly enough room in this e-news to include it all.  From Wine & Design Ladies Nights to our Free Mini Decorating Seminars to our Holiday Open House...there are so many great reasons to come and visit Otten Bros. in November.

If you don't have time to stop in daily to see all the hustle and bustle that occurs this month, I invite you to become a Fan of Otten Bros. on Facebook.  We will be giving you a peek into what is happening, fun decorating ideas, photos, videos, and much more.  I hope you become a fan - I did!  FaceBook Icon

A Carefree Christmas with Otten Bros.decorated wreath

We all have families, jobs, commitments.  You and I both know that our time is at a premium, especially during the holiday season.  Otten Bros. is here to help.  Let us save you time.  We call it  'A Carefree Christmas with Otten Bros.'

It's truly the little things that add up.  What if I were to tell you that Otten Bros. will put your Christmas tree in its stand, put lights on it, deliver AND set it up in your home?  All you do is enjoy decorating it with your family.  No hassles of "is it straight, yet?" or strings of lights that don't work.  We take care of the details for you.

Need help reaching the peak of your house to hang garland, a beautifully decorated wreath or lights?  Have you always wanted to have the big tree in your front yard filled with twinkling lights for the holidays but never have the time to make it happen?  Otten Bros. offers lighting and decorating services.  We have all the ladders and even a bucket truck to get you and your home ready for the holidays. Decorating

Reminder cards are mailed to you about what your purchased last year, custom decorated wreaths, roping, and containers, custom flocked trees & wreaths; these are just a few of the many services we offer in order to help take the hassle out of your holidays.

Let Otten Bros. give you the gift of A Carefree Christmas this year.  Call today, it will save you nothing but time!
Our Wreaths Are Green...

Making a WreathOur wreaths are not just green in color, but green environmentally, as well!  With the push to shop local and to be more environmentally conscience, Otten Bros. is giving you the best of both worlds this holiday season.

Our wreaths, roping, swags, mailbox decorators and other specialty items are made less than 15 miles away from Otten Bros. at our second location, The Flower Farm, in Delano.   In November, The Flower Farm takes on its second persona and transforms from a garden center into a holiday wonderland. (The workroom smells like you just walked into an evergreen forest!)  The Flower Farm hires 11 local people to create our beautiful holiday decorations that are made from fresh cut balsam, white pine, cedar and other fresh-cut evergreens.

Over 85% of the fresh cut greens used in our wreaths and roping come from northern Minnesota.  This local product is delivered fresh to the Flower Farm weekly.  The greens are a harvested crop that is renewable and recyclable.  At the end of the season, just remove the steel ring, clips or wire holding your wreath or garland together, recycle the steel and compost the greens. You have just supported the local economy and made a good green choice.

Poinsettia
Our poinsettias are green, too! (no, really they are red, pink, burgundy, etc.- you get the idea)  The Flower Farm grows most of the poinsettias we sell; from the cute pixies to the big and lush 3-plant pinched poinsettias.  Your poinsettia, too, can be composted at the end of the season. Or, if you have a green thumb you can continue to grow and have it color up year after year.

Grown locally, made locally for our customers and our community.
Local Author to Read Book to Kids at Otten Bros.
The Night I Met Santa
Otten Bros. is pleased to feature Lora Johnson, local author, wife, and mother of 4 at our upcoming Holiday Open House.  She will be reading her book, The Night I Met Santa, on Saturday & Sunday, November 21 & 22 at 11:15am both days, to all the kids in attendance.

Her book is a "heartwarming tale that reflects the true meaning of Christmas, expressed in a conversation between Santa and a rambunctious young boy named Jeremy."   A true story based on her own experience one week before Christmas.Lora Johnson Family

It is a beautiful book with wonderful meaning - it would make a great Christmas gift.  Lora will be offering her book for sale during our Holiday Open House.  Otten Bros. portion of the proceeds will be donated to Interfaith Outreach Community Partners.  We hope you and your family can join us for Lora's book reading.

U$ele$$ Trivia Que$tion

Turkey & StuffingCongratulations! to Jennifer W. for correctly answering last month's trivia question...What is the county of origin and the vegetable originally associated with Jack-o-Lanterns? Answer: Ireland & a turnip.

My thoughts have quickly turned toward Thanksgiving.  What is one of the best parts about Thanksgiving?  The FOOD, especially my Mom's homemade stuffing.  It really didn't get any better than that.  I know that she made it like my Grandma's stuffing.  The recipe surely had been past down from generations before that.

So, according to numerous websites name the author of the oldest cookbook known that contains stuffing recipes. (You will be shocked at what they 'stuffed' and ate - yuck! Definitely NOT like Mom used to make.)

Email your answer to email@ottenbros.com   - This month's winner will receive a $50 Otten Bros. gift card.
I know that there was a lot of talk about Christmas in this newsletter.  Trust me, I did not intentionally forget Thanksgiving.  This is a month to be thankful for the many blessing we all enjoy.

From our family at Otten Bros. & The Flower Farm, may you be blessed the entire month with health and happiness.  We wish you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Cheers,
