A.H.A.V.A.
Best wishes for a Happy and Healthy New Year!
Dear Friends and Supporters of A.H.A.V.A,

The other day my husband gave a lift to Aliza, a former student of A.H.A.V.A.  It had been a while since we had seen her so he asked her how she was doing. Her proud answer: "Tell your wife that due to A.H.A.V.A. I will soon be starting my higher education studies." She was not yet decided on a Major. Either Education or Occupational Therapy.

This, my dear friends, is our dream that you help us fulfill. To open the doors for the future generations. When Aliza started learning with us she was just a little cute 5 year old. Due to our great program & dedicated teachers, Aliza's efforts  &  parental guidance and our wonderful supporters  she is now eligible and able to go on to higher studies, gain a profession that she enjoys, and contribute to society.

THIS UPCOMING YEAR
With your help we will be producing many more Aliza's - Israel's professional graduates of the 2020's! We have 18 classes serving over 150 children from 5 communities.

We are creating an English Room for the Mitzpe Yericho School!  Our 1500+ book Vicki Fickler Memorial Library and the Sandi Bloomberg Teacher Resource Corner will be housed there along with Ben's Toys - our huge cache of educational games, toys and materials.

Our ever popular Readathon returns this winter. We plan to surpass the 200 participants that we had last year. With 4 more schools requesting to join this exciting event it should not be too hard!

As we approach the New Year, we are looking for partners in our work. Consider A.H.A.V.A. when you decide on your Rosh Hashana donations. We need your help! There are many Aliza's out there waiting for that extra assistance we provide. $400 is one scholarship.  $200 sponsors a class. $25 buys a game for Ben's Toys. $18 is an English Reader.  Every bit helps!
Your donation translates into success for our students.

The Giant's Book
book
Last year, as part of our Readathon we created the biggest book in Israel. Each participant decorated a word in the book. It has traveled to all the schools and libraries in the areas where our readers live!

Watch for our 2013 Readathon dates to be announced soon!
Cayla Quinn's Bat-Mitzvah Projectcayla

Cayla from Walnut Creek, CA, celebrated her Bat-Mitzvah by choosing A.H.A.V.A. as her Chesed Project. She joined the Readathon with her friends and together they raised $1,000 for our Scholarship Fund. She also asked everyone attending her party to to donate a book to our library!
Thank you Cayla, we appreciate all your help!
