How Reading Rocks! Started

About five years ago

Gaila Cohen Morrison

 &

Paula Barnard

 bemoaned the lack of a

good, simple reader

 for those learning English

 as a foreign language.

 Using many original teaching concepts

and a sense of humour

they were inspired to develop this unique reader

for beginning,

 and often struggling,

English students.

Tremendous thanks go out to all those who believed in us and helped make this dream become a reality.

One free copy for the teacher

with every order of over 25 books.

Greetings!

Can't decide which reader to use for your students  in the upcoming schoolyear?

FAQS

Must each student have their own copy?

YES. A student with her own copy has a sense of empowerment with a nicely used book she calls her own and enjoys reading from.

Student with book prototype

Can't I just photocopy a few pages here and there?

NO. All the work is copyrighted so there is a legal and moral dilemma about photocopying. You may photocopy two stories to see how it goes with your students - but after that you are infringing on copyright laws.

Besides, individual papers are not laid out as a book. Your student is losing out!

Is it really necessary to use all those stories?

If we thought a beginning student only needed to read 16 stories we would have printed only 16 stories.

Reading Rocks! is a reader chock full of amusing stories that are aimed for the very early or struggling reader. Those students need to read and read. To practice particular phonic skills again and again. And again. To use basic vocabulary words more than once.  If you use only every third story - you won't get that. If you skip units - your student doesn't get the practice he deserves to get.

Must each student buy his own book?

To be able to take advantage of every skill Reading Rocks! offers - yes. We priced Reading Rocks! very reasonably so that parents can afford this supplemental book for their child.

How exactly do you use Reading Rocks! ?

Make sure to use the prep page. Without that you lose the power of the book. Watch the You-Tube clip or read the instructions in English or Hebrew. Or call me at 02 535 6532. I am even willing to meet with teachers or a group of parents who are interested in learning how to get 100% out of Reading Rocks! for their kids.

Teachers tell us how GREAT Reading Rocks! is:

"I am writing you after three months of using the book with my most severely dyslexic boy. I have been trying to teach him three letter words since he was in third grade! Now he's in sixth grade, has had many other teachers trying to help him but it just results in frustration and tears..." read more...

I just want you to know that I adapted your technique as added practice and extended vocabulary for the material of the text book I use. This week is the first time I used it and it was great! I feel like this is one of the keys to... read more...

"I am tutoring twins and I introduced Reading Rocks! to them.

They enjoyed reading so much that they actually begged to stay longer..." read more...
