Dear Parents,

This year was an extraordinarily good one.

For the second consecutive year we ran the English speakers program in the Kfar Adumim school.

The Just Tzedakah organization awarded us their Transparency Award.

Our Readathon was incredibly successful this year. We attracted over 200 students for the Gush Adumim area to join together to read over 3000 books withing 5 weeks.

The entries we received for the Writing Contest exceeded all of our expectations. Each teacher was proudly showing off what their students had done. Just goes to show how much our children can accomplish when we raise the bar high enough!

Very soon we will be going to print our very first reader/workbook for our Hebrew Speaking students.

Looking back over this year gets me very excited about our upcoming one!

We are currently looking forward to next year. Please download a registration form and mail it in to us.  Registration before July 1 gives you a 30 shekel reduction.

Wishing you all a great vacation,
Gaila Cohen Morrison
Academic Fair
academic fair 2010 June 9th 2010

Students, Parents and Teachers all gathered together to celebrate the end of the year and enjoy an Academic Fair.

I could see by the results at the Academic Fair that all of our students progressed amazingly. The varied and colorful array of work was simply astounding!  Especially fun was seeing  different models of housing from all over the world!

For those of you who weren't at the Academic Fair, you missed watching a film that our 5th - 6th Mitzpe Yericho class put together. We also read a couple of excepts from incredible entries from the Writing Contest.

The teachers appreciated their gift from all the parents - an dinner for two at Sambuki!

As usual we ended the party with ice-cream for all the children! YUM!

Please contact us as soon as possible so we can make sure your child will have a group next year! (When we are only contacted in the end of the summer we cannot promise to find teachers or enough students to open a group).
Before closing for the summer I want to share a thought with you.

Last month I attended the graduation of a friends' daughter from Ben Gurion University's Medical School. As I watched their euphoric graduation I thought of our then upcoming graduation of A.H.A.V.A.'s 6th and eighth grade students.

While our graduates are not about to embark upon a medical career in the next couple of months, they are at an important point of their academic education. For many of them,  the school they chose to go to next year, and the work they will do there will be crucial towards their ultimate career choice.

It is my  firm belief that the foundation that we gave them through A.H.A.V.A. will allow them to choose whatever career they would like.

Just be sure to remember to invite their A.H.A.V.A. teachers when they graduate as lawyers, accountants, doctors, psychologist, engineers, etc. 10 years from now!

Sincerely,

Gaila Cohen Morrison
