Have any of you ever contacted an ebay Rep before, only to get the brush off or instead, you get the "pass the bucket" effect? This happens all the time (in case you have yet to find out). Well, while Hal happens to be one of the most honorable and gentle spirited business men I have had the honor to work for, he wasn't gonna take an eBay Reps Brush off this time.
Why do I share this with you? Cause what he did, I think effects a lot of you. That is, it affects those of you that have flash banners with links inside the flash. The Niffler, Joelle Bare Cosmetics, Saftety Products Marketplace, Denver Shoes, and many many more that come to my mind.... Anyways, recently ebay did an update to their system and it bascially crippled all of the flash banner links. (did you even notice they weren't working? lol)
Hal noticed his links were not working inside his ebay stores flash banner, although the same flash banner and links worked perfectly in his website. He then contacted ebay... who then said "it's your designer!" (LOL - they LOOOOVE to pass the bucket on us designers)... Funny thing is, I haven't touched his design in months, and it worked perfectly before ebays changes.
So Hal contacted me about it and I looked around at some of my other clients designs who had flash with links... and they weren't working either. So I told Hal it would probably be a matter of time, perhaps it would be fixed in the morning. Well, it wasn't. So Hal called an ebay Rep again...
And you know how much we all just LOVE to call upon an ebay Rep. And I'm sure you won't be surprised at all when I say they blamed the designer once again... But Hal wouldn't hear it and basically threatened to report them if they didn't try to get the matter fixed.
3 hours later ebay contacted him, and it was fixed.

Hello Crystal, Well the store links are finally working. since I last spoke with you I again contacted eBay and ended up getting a little harsh, and told them I had no doubt that the problem was with eBay, as all other links work and this happened at a time while I was away and exercised no activity during that period.. Also it was within that week that eBay had made several changes and reconfigurations to links for buyer search. I further told them that if they persisted and no own to their fault, and that it was not their problem and I have to employ to have the site corrected and it proved to be an eBay error that I would bring them to task on the issue. ( I took a chance on maybe eBay cancelling my store). I receive an email from them that they would look further into the problem, and about three hours later I received another email that the links were working. just thought I'd let you know. they still didn't own up to it yet. but all is well now. my best..Hal
