WIRELESS COMMUNICATION FROM CHATHAM TO THE WORLD

 

is the topic of a presentation by CMMC's Dick Kraycir at the Unitarian Universalist Meeting House located on the at 812 Main Street Chatham MA, near the Village Market and Queen Anne Road lights. On

Come and discover the many roles of the Chatham Wireless Station in sending SHIP TO SHORE MORSE CODE using MARCONI WIRELESS to communicate with ships at sea and intercepting CODED MESSAGES from German U-boats during WWII - all of this happened in Marconi's operations center from 1922 to 1993.

Dick Kraycir, our featured speaker, will preview his new multi-media presentation describing the origins of the station its history and conversion into a museum.  The program includes video clips of the BATTLE OF THE ATLANTIC and the ENIGMA CODED MESSAGES.

Dick is a professional engineer as well as a Renaissance man, with experience in semiconductor computer ceramics and semiconductor optical imaging systems. His talk will include a sneak preview of  what to expect at the Grand Opening of the Chatham Marconi Maritime Center in June 2011.
