                                                    APRIL 2011

INVITING YOU TO TAKE PART IN 2011 MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

Greetings!

The Chatham Marconi Maritime Center invites you and your family to a join CMMC as members in 2011. You will enjoy the new member benefits: membership  includes free admission to our exhibits and invitations to member only events as describe below. Your support will also enable us to add new member benefits as the year goes on.

We had over 3000 visitors come to the museum in our inaugural season last summer. The feedback was extremely positive and we received a number of very constructive suggestions for enhancing the facility and the visitor experience. For example, we have enclosed the area where visitors enjoy our videos and our gift shop will have expanded offerings.

As you know, CMMC received a $100,000 grant from the Qualcomm Corporation Foundation in late 2010. We are using these funds to add several new exhibits and the enhance others. Our plan is to introduce the new exhibits in a CMMC Kick Off Week for members only in June as follows:

Saturday, June 18: Improved Amateur Radio Station

Monday, June 20th: New Entrance and Sign in Areas and The WCC Operators Station

Tuesday, June 21: New WWII Film and Navy Exhibit Opening

Wednesday, June 22nd: The Story of The Station

Thursday: June 23rd: New Technology and Meet The Author Lunch at the Wequassett (See below.)

Friday: June 24th: New Marconi Exhibit

On Thursday, June 23rd author Calvin ("Cam") Trowbridge will be the featured speaker at a Meet the Author lunch at the Wequassett Inn in East Harwich, sponsored by Where the Sidewalk Ends, bookstore. Cam will discuss his wonderful new book on Marconi: "MARCONI, Father of Wireless, Grandfather of Radio, and Great-grandfather of the Cell phone".

There is a space on the Membership Form to reserve your seat(s) and include payment.

Finally, consider volunteering at the Museum this year. We were fortunate to have a number of dedicated volunteers who served as guides and assisted with visitor reception last year. Since we will be open for a much longer period this year, it is important that we add to our volunteer group, and we hope you will also indicate your interests and time preferences on the membership form.

Thank you for your continued interest and support. We look forward to seeing you this summer.
