Additional Workshop at 7-Springs SADD Conference

The 7-Springs PA SADD Conference on November 4th has an additional workshop.  The Pennsylvania National Guard will once again be conducting its "Team Building" workshop.

If anyone in your group is interested in attending the Team Building workshop, he/she MUST bring a signed Video/Photo Release Form to the conference in order to attend the workshop.  This is a release in the event that their likeness is captured on film as the Guard does intend to take some pictures and videos of their workshop.

The Team Building workshop is a highly interactive session designed to teach youth how to bring energy and unity to their SADD chapters.

Contact the PA SADD office for a copy of the Video/Photo Release Form by calling Barb or Felicity at 717-238-4354 or emailing them at bzortman@padui.org or fdebacco@padui.org.

REMINDER:

For both the Lancaster (11/2) and Seven Springs (11/4) SADD Conferences breakfast will NOT be provided, however, lunch WILL BE provided.

PA SADD & SADD National Newsletters

SADD National has a great e-newsletter, The SADDvocate, that we highly recommend you subscribe to.  You can find it at the link below, or by visiting www.sadd.org and signing-up to receive it directly to your and/or your students' email addresses.  Sometimes school email filters prevent full information from coming through, so we recommend you make a note to visit SADD National's archives often.

PA SADD's E-news is released on a regular basis, but as with many spam filters, our emails to you are often blocked.  Please also make yourself a note to visit PA SADD's E-News Archives frequently just to make sure you're not missing anything.

"Mix It Up At Lunch Day" in November

Mix it up logoSponsored by Teaching Tolerance, November 9th is designated as "Mix It Up at Lunch Day."  On this day, students are "mixed up" by sitting with other students at lunch whom they might not usually interact with.  The idea is to break down social boundaries and cliques and improve the school climate and reduce bullying.  We encourage all SADD Chapters to bring Mix It Up at Lunch day to your school - and make sure to register your school on the map at the site below.

If you can't get this organized in time for November 9th - this would be a highly effective activity for any day of the year!

The SADD Family Focus Speaker Series

stephen wallace

SADD National and Liberty Mutual Insurance have partnered to offer the SADD Family Focus Speaker Series, featuring Stephen Wallace, SADD Chairman and CEO, college professor, former psychologist, and author.

This is an evening assembly, approximately 50 minutes long, that is only being offered by limited engagement from September through December 2010.

The presentation will only cost your school an investment of $200; Liberty Mutual will underwrite the balance.

Schools will have a choice of applying for either the "Family Focus" or the "Parent Power" program.  "Family Focus" (for parents and teens) explores the reality gap that often divides parents and teens, and offers practical advice to help improve family communications and encourage safe driving behaviors.  "Parent Power" (adults only) provides parents with information about the real world of today's teens and outlines concrete steps they can take to help keep youth safe on and off the road.

Download more details at www.sadd.org.

If you would like to see a presentation, the following schools have Mr. Wallace booked:

October 20 @ 6pm at Conestoga Valley High School (Lancaster County)

October 21 @ 7pm at Avon Grove Charter School (Chester County)
