"Prove me, O LORD, and try me; test my heart and mind.." Psalm-26:2

Feast of Francis of Assisi

Most high, omnimpotent, good Lord, grant your people grace to renounce gladly the vanities of this world; that, following the way of blessed Francis, we may for love of you delight in your whole creation with perfectness of joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

One Month After: The Hurricane Isaac Recovery
Episcopal Community Services, New Orleans

This past weekend marked the one-month anniversary of the landfall of Hurricane Isaac and the unmet recovery needs are becoming more and more evident.  We are asking congregations to please consider having a special collection to help those affected by the storm.  Outside help for this hurricane has been minimal for many reasons: disaster fatigue, a downturn in the economy, and a short attention span by the media.  Therefore, more than ever, we need to help our own here in south Louisiana.  LaPlace, Slidell, an 18 mile long stretch in Plaquemines including the community of Braithwaite, and Lafitte have all been significantly impacted.  A tour of Braithwaite made by ECSLA staff revealed Hurricane Katrina-like destruction, with an estimated 700 homes destroyed, businesses impacted and cemeteries completely washed away.  Read more by clicking here
