So they [the twelve] went out and proclaimed that all should repent.

They cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them."

          Mark 6:12-13

An Ounce of Preparation = A Pound of Response

With a new hurricane season upon us, it seems a good time for both families and churches to review their disaster plans.  For families, ready.gov has wonderful information about preparedness.  Bronze, Silver and Gold plan templates are available for church preparedness planning on Episcopal Relief and Development's website (www.er-d.org).  Episcopal Community Services also is available to help churches in planning to respond after a disaster and to help churches in readying their congregations.  Stephanie Mabou (smabou@ecsla.org) is a full-time Americorps VISTA staff person with ECS and is available to work with parishes in disaster planning as is Deacon Elaine Clements (eclements@ecsla.org), Diocesan Disaster Coordinator.

Please note that the diocesan phone lines (225-706-6634 for Baton Rouge and 504-895-6634 in New Orleans) have the capacity to operate off-site and so will remain functional after an event, even should the Diocesan offices be evacuated.

Young Adults:  Save the date for the next Tuesday at the Fly! July 17th

Tuesday, July 17th New Orleans area Young Adults will gather at "The Fly" (the park on the Mississippi River behind Audubon Zoo) for dinner, discussion, and fellowship.

Our speakers in July will be Mrs. Harriet Murrell and The Rev'd Scott Albergate, who are part of the Louisiana deputation to General Convention. They will share their experiences from General Convention, specifically addressing the proposed budget changes to the Formation budget for Young Adult ministries.

Look for the blue tent and the purple and white EDoLA Youth and Young Adults banner! We will have dinner, soft drinks, and water. Also, please bring a folding chair or picnic blanket!
