The Bishop's Annual Mission Appeal kicks off this month!
Clergy will highli ght aspects of the Mission Appeal on Sunday, May 6 and Sunday, May 13 in advance of a special ingathering in all the churches of the diocese on Sunday, May 20.
And, look for a letter from Bishop Thompson in your mailbox in the middle of the month that covers several aspects of ministry addressed by the Mission Appeal. This year, Bishop Thompson has separated BAMA from the diocese's program budget and plans to equally divide the proceeds among the following ministries: - The rebuilding of St. Matthew's, Houma as it recovers from a fire that destroyed the historic church building in 2010;
- Outreach to international groups and people in need, through our own Partners in Mission;
- A financial reserve for unforeseen disasters and events throughout the year.
If you have any questions please ask your clergy, or call our offices at 225.706.6634 or 504.895.6634. Thank you in advance for your participation in the Bishop's Annual Mission Appeal!

Mapping the Outreach Ministries of the Diocese
Asset mapping empowers and gives voice to those in you r communities. It is a process of identifying how the gifts of the people, buildings, land, and ministries are utilized to improve the quality of life of our neighbors in need. Through a grant from Episcopal Relief and Development, ECSLA is creating an Asset Map of the Episcopal Diocese of Louisiana to show how our churches are ministering to the poor, feeding the hungry, addressing the social justice issues of our society, and responding to disasters.
This online map will be launched in fall 2012-with Louisiana leading the way as the first Diocese in the country to have such a map! The work we have been doing in our communities has been recognized by Episcopal Relief and Development, which chose our Diocese to pilot this national effort. Next week a survey will be emailed to the rectors of each parish. This survey will help us in identifying the outreach ministries throughout the Diocese. For more information on this exciting new tool, please visit: www.ecsla.org.

Kairos Prison Ministry Training May 5th
Training begins May 5 and meets every Saturday (except June 2) until the actual weekend. This is the only Kairos Weekend at Angola in 2012, so prayerfully consider joining us. Even if you cannot be on the team that enters Angola, there are many ways to be involved in this ministry: as Cook or Agape Team, or providing cookies, financial contributions, prayer support or kids' artwork. Kairos Prison Ministry returns to Louisiana's State Penitentiary June 21-24. Its mission is to bring Christ's love and forgiveness to all incarcerated individuals, their families and those who work with them, and to assist in the transition of becoming a productive citizen. David Musser of Trinity New Orleans is Advising Leader of Kairos #54, and men or women can join him on this team. If interested in being part of this Kairos at Angola, please contact David Musser ASAP at dmusser72@yahoo.com or 504-615-0001.
