A Prayer for Tohoku

The Diocesan Convention last weekend approved a resolution to include the Diocese of Tohoku, Japan, in the Prayers of the People this Sunday, March 11, on the first anniversary of their terrible earthquake/tsunami disaster. Below is a prayer that could be used in the liturgy.

"Almighty and everliving God, look graciously on the people of Japan, especially our brothers and sisters in the Diocese of Tohoku, on the first anniversary of their devastating earthquake and tsunami. Give them strength to carry out the difficult tasks of recovery; give them guidance to make wise decisions in their rebuilding efforts; bless them with your love and renew them with the power of your Holy Spirit. These things we ask in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen."
