The Lord Speaks to Samuel 
Now the LORD came and stood there, calling as before, "Samuel! Samuel!" And Samuel said, "Speak, for your servant is listening." 1 Sam 3:10.
Insistent God, by night and day you summon your slumbering people, So stir us with your voice and enlighten our lives with your grace that we give ourselves fully to Christ's call to mission and ministry. Amen. Additional readings for the coming week

Bishop Pope Dies
The Rt. Rev. Clarence C. Pope, second bishop of Fort Worth and 2nd rector of St Luke's Baton Rouge, died over night this past Saturday at Our Lady of the Lake hospital. He was being treated for pneumonia.Bishop Pope will be buried from St. Luke's on Thursday, January 12, 2012. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, with a Requiem Mass to begin at 11:00 AM. The Reverend Canon Chad Jones, Rector of St. Patrick's Episcopal Church, Zachary, will celebrate and preach. Internment at the Grace Episcopal Church Cemetery, St. Francisville, will follow immediately. All are invited to attend. Clergy not involved in the liturgy will not vest. Episcopal Relief & Development Names Canon Mark Stevenson and Four Others to Board of Directors

ER-D is pleased to welcome five new members to its Board of Directors. The Rev. Canon E. Mark Stevenson (Louisiana), Meredith A. Brown (Long Island), Lindsay Coates (Washington) and Judith Morrison (Washington) begin their terms effective January 1. The Rt. Rev. Absalom Jones Celebration - Trinity New Orleans
Trinity, New Orleans' annual Absalom Jones celebration will take place Wednesday, February 8 at 6:00pm. The event honors the life and ministry of Absalom Jones, the first African-American ordained priest in the Episcopal Church as well as the gifts and contributions of African-Americans across the Church. Preaching this year will be The Rev'd Joseph Wallace.

Young Adult Internship Grants Available!
Does your church help young adults-or desire to help young adults-connect their gifts to the needs of the world? Do you want to energize your parish? Are you looking for more engagement in the community? If so, Episcopal Community Services of Louisiana has internship stipends available! With a grant from the Fund for Theological Education, we will be able to fund partial stipends for up to 4 young adult internships. The internships can last from 6 months to a year, between March 2012 and May 2013. Stipends will likely be up to $2,500 per intern. Applications are du e February 15, 2012.
