 John the Baptist"[John] proclaimed, "The one who is more powerful than I is coming after me; I am not worthy to stoop down and untie the thong of his sandals. I have baptized you with water; but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit." Matt 1:7-8

God of hope,
you call us from the exile of our sin
with the good news of restoration;
you build a highway through the wilderness;
you come to us and bring us home.
Comfort us with the expectation of your saving power,
made known to us in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Give Joy to a Prisoner's Child this Christmas.
Volunteer for Angel Tree®

You can "adopt" a child of an indigent prisoner for Christmas and purchase a toy and an item of clothing in the 26th year of St. James involvement with Angle TreeAngel Tree Ministry. Those who take a child's name usually spend around $40.00. We will have 48 children in the greater Baton Rouge area for whom to purchase gifts in the name of their imprisoned parent. Your wrapped and tagged gift, along with Angel Tree booklets will be delivered to these children who, through no fault of their own, might otherwise do without this Christmas. Please call Nancy Penn at 225-926-2122 if you are interested in sharing your Christmas joy.
