God said, "My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." Exodus 33:14
| God of all who wander in the wilderness, you go before us as beacon and guide. Lead us through all danger, sustain us through all desolation, and bring us home to the land you have prepared for us. Amen.

Changes to Diocesan CommunicationsRebecca Pitre, Diocesan Coordinator for Communications and Publications, will be leaving the bishop's staff in Baton Rouge. Next week, she will move to Dallas to begin a new phase in her life. Rebecca has served the diocese since November 2008. She is very grateful for her time spent here and the wonderful people she got to work with and for. You will see some changes in diocesan communications - namely a new format for this newsletter. Instead of having to download a PDF, you'll be able to view the newsletter right from your inbox (like right now!). Kenn Elder, longtime Web Coordinator for the diocese, will now be in charge of putting E-DoLA together. If you have any submissions for the E-DoLA newsletter, please send them to news@edola.org. Rebecca will still be designing the next issue of ChurchWork. The deadline for the Winter issue is October 31st. Please continue to send your ChurchWork submissions to her at rpitre@edola.org. The Winter issue will be mailed the 2nd week of December, so if you have any Christmas programs to advertise, there will be adequate time.

Announcing: Upcoming Opportunities for Discussions and Workshops Designed to Help Heal Racism
Bishop Morris Thompson has declared this the Year of Reconciliation in our diocese. He believes that it is essential for clergy and lay leaders to understand the current local racial tensions in need of healing. Additionally, many parish priests have requested assistance as to how to incorporate this aspect of education into adult Christian formation. They see it as part of the "how-to" follow-up for the Baptismal vow: "seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbor as ourselves."
Here is a sampling of resources available:
TURNtables Wed. evenings at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1329 Jackson Ave. Hosted by Trinity Undoing Racism Network (TURN). Oct. 5, 12, 19, 26 and Nov. 2. Program at 7 o'clock in the chapel following Eucharist at 5:30 in the church and dinner at 6. Members of the Trinity family and friends will tell their stories of parenting in mixed-race or other-than-mainstream families. A multi-generational, multi-racial group will take questions and comments.
The People's Institute for Survival and Beyond holds quarterly 2-and-a-half day workshops in New Orleans on Undoing Racism to provide training in leadership development, networking, personal and community empowerment and basic organizing skills. The foundation of the workshop is a common definition, language and understanding of racism in the United States. Scholarship assistance is available through TURN.
Continuing education certificates will be provided upon request. For more information contact Orissa Arend, TURN steering committee member, at 504-865-1619 or arendsaxer@bellsouth.net.
