If you support our work and $1000 is not in the budget, please  consider making a smaller contribution. Contributions $250 and over are eligible for tax exemption through the Annapolis Community Foundation. (The Annapolis Community Foundation is already acting as our fiscal sponsor so that we can accept tax-deductible donations even while our 501(c)(3) filing is underway.) Yes, it's summer and we're taking a break... sort of.

We won't hold a Green Drinks event in July but that's because we're gearing up for exciting events and news later in the summer and fall.

annapolis green logoSave the Date: Wednesday, July 25, Galway Bay Irish Pub -- one of the Greenest restaurants in the state, and not because they are Irish -- will host a Fun Fundraiser and Recognition Event for Annapolis Green. The time will be 5-7 p.m. This will be to celebrate our successes so far and to acknowledge our Founding One Hundred sponsors. More details to come...
We'll have more details on this later, but save the date for Green Drinks in just 60 days: Tuesday, August 28, 5:30-7:30 p.m., at the new WEST Kitchen & Tavern at Loews Annapolis Hotel, 126 West Street. The tavern will have just opened so we'll be west kitchen & tavernamong the first to welcome this new addition to the dining scene to Annapolis. WEST has announced its commitment to local sourcing and seasonally based offerings. Read more.

Petition to Protect the Forest on Forest Drive

Save Your Annapolis Neck is distributing a new petition regarding two big projects currently in the City's permitting process that will have an adverse effect on the forested areas that remain on the Annapolis Neck. In fact, acres of old growth forest will be bulldozed to build townhouses, single family houses, a senior living complex, more retail, and more concrete.

Major concerns are Loss of wildlife habitat, effect on stormwater runoff, more school crowding, more traffic. The City's own Environmental Commission opposes both projects, The Reserve at Quiet Waters and Crystal Spring, as do neighbors of the projects.

Please take a moment to read the petition and weigh in if this is important to you.

Eastport a Rockin' Went Green!

annapolis green logoEastport A Rockin' partygoers were given the opportunity to recycle cups, bottles, cans and more at this year's event last Saturday, thanks to the Festival Greening partnership between Annapolis Green and WasteStrategies.

"It worked great," said Jess Pachler, Eastport A Rockin' organizer. "I watched people go up to the bins and say 'Ooh, recycling.'  I'd recommend this for other events. The guys were super to work with."

Rockin' festival goers used the 13 big, bright "Eco-Stations" as they enjoyed the music, food and drink at this signature street festival that benefited the Annapolis Maritime Museum and AMFM, the Annapolis Musicians Fund for Musicians. | Click for more about Eastport A Rockin'

Sandy Bottom

the only reason to get off your bottom

annapolis green logoSandy Bottom is a refreshing pre-mixed cocktail that was created by a local Annapolitan, Sandy Mazza, while boating on the Chesapeake Bay. Imagine that... boating and having cocktails with friends once the anchor is down... and they loved it! Sandy turned this cocktail concept into a bottled product and now can be enjoyed by many. Sandy Bottom is carbonated coconut rum with natural lemonade and lime flavors that has a refreshing sweet-tart composition. It is made in America and sold locally at Bay Ridge Wine and Spirits, Rite Aid, Eastport Liquors, Scott Brothers, Fishpaws, and McGarvey's. More locations will come as Sandy Bottom grows. In addition to Sandy Bottom's creator being local, the aluminum "bottle can" is 100% recyclable making it very green. Look for regular samplings in our community and at one of the Green Drinks events this summer.
