Want to join in and make your mark on sustainability in the Annapolis area?

Over the past six years we've provided an on-line and in-person way t
o distribute local environmental information, make friends and alliances, and exchange views. Your support of our programs tells us that you believe we are providing a valuable service. Changing our status to non-profit allows us to take on projects funded by grants and tax-deductible donations. But in this "formative period," we need your financial support to get established.

Want to be one of the first to be a part of Annapolis Green? Then consider becoming one of our Founding One Hundred. Join the list below.

If you support our work and $1000 is not in the budget, please  consider making a smaller contribution. Contributions $250 and over are eligible for tax exemption through the Annapolis Community Foundation. (The Annapolis Community Foundation is already acting as our fiscal sponsor so that we can accept tax-deductible donations even while our 501(c)(3) filing is underway.) The Foundation cannot accept donations under $250 but we certainly welcome your direct support any level! Please read more. Thank you!

Top of the Line

A big thank you to Clock Tower Place for hosting our last Green Drinks. In spite of the rain, we had a good crowd and celebrated the Great Green Outdoors with our event hosts:

*    My Butcher and More

*    Grapes Wine Bar & Wine Cellars
     of Annapolis

*    Wild Bird Center of Annapolis

*    Tastings Gourmet Market

*    Sweet Hearts Patisserie

Be sure to patronize these local businesses and stop in at the Friday afternoon Farmers' Market at Clock Tower, every week.

The National Wildlife Federation (NWF), who partnered with us for this Green Drinks, is working with the City of Annapolis to make our town a Certified Wildlife Habitat, one yard (or business) at a time. There are about half as many yards as neeed signed up so far. Go the NWF website and register your property.

NWF also told us about the Great American Campout, going on all over the country tomorrow, but in our area, at the Brick Companies' Queenstown Harbor Golf Course. Best known for their golf courses (and as previous hosts of Green Drinks!) Brick built one of the first green roofs in the country and has high sustainability standards. Learn more about the campout and join in or just get outside! NWF is America's largest conservation organization and it's regional office is in Annapolis. They are all about protecting our wildlife and habitat.

Thank you to our volunteers who made the event run smoothly, including: David Wood and Wendy Marxen.

annapolis green logoEnjoy this great waterside festival featuring 26 bands on 3 stages, food, drink, vendors... and all for a good cause. Proceeds benefit the Annapolis Maritime Museum and AMFM, the Annapolis Musicians Fund for Musicians.

Look for our eco-stations. They are becoming Greening fixtures around town!

Petition to Protect the Forest on Forest Drive

Save Your Annapolis Neck is distributing a new petition regarding two big projects currently in the City's permitting process that will have an adverse effect on the forested areas that remain on the Annapolis Neck. In fact, acres of old growth forest will be bulldozed to build townhouses, single family houses, a senior living complex, more retail, and more concrete.

Major concerns are Loss of wildlife habitat, effect on stormwater runoff, more school crowding, more traffic. The City's own Environmental Commission opposes both projects, The Reserve at Quiet Waters and Crystal Spring, as do neighbors of the projects.

Please take a moment to read the petition and weigh in if this is important to you.

Sandy Bottom

the only reason to get off your bottom

annapolis green logo
Sandy Bottom is a refreshing pre-mixed cocktail that was created by a local Annapolitan, Sandy Mazza, while boating on the Chesapeake Bay. Imagine that... boating and having cocktails with friends once the anchor is down... and they loved it! Sandy turned this cocktail concept into a bottled product and now can be enjoyed by many. Sandy Bottom is carbonated coconut rum with natural lemonade and lime flavors that has a refreshing sweet-tart composition. It is made in America and sold locally at Bay Ridge Wine and Spirits, Rite Aid, Eastport Liquors, Scott Brothers, Fishpaws, and McGarvey's. More locations will come as Sandy Bottom grows. In addition to Sandy Bottom's creator being local, the aluminum "bottle can" is 100% recyclable making it very green. Look for regular samplings in our community and at one of the Green Drinks events this summer.
Like Sandy Bottom on Facebook to see the schedule of local tastings.
