A "Great Deal" for Everyone!
Landmarks Great Deals announces a local fundraising opportunity
it's a First - with Annapolis Green!
Annapolis Green and Landmarks Great Deals (LGD) announce a partnership to keep the momentum of Shopping Local going, not only now during the holiday season, but continuing through the cold days of January and February.
Local merchants get terrific exposure via LGD's online, social media and traditional marketing; shoppers get the great deals - some discounts are as deep as 90 percent; and our newly nonprofit Annapolis Green gets a donation when our followers and friends purchase these great deals using the Annapolis Green promo code.
Annapolis Green, long a promoter of living, working and playing sustainably in this area via our website and "in-person social networking" Green Drinks events, will soon become a non-profit entity. This will allow us to take our work to the next level by raising funds for projects that will benefit the greater Annapolis area, both environmentally and economically.
The partnership with LGD is a great way the community can help Annapolis Green do its good work!
So here's how it works
Annapolis Green supporters go to LGD's website, landmarksgreatdeals.com, to see Today's Deal. If it appeals to you, click on Buy Now or Buy it for a Friend. That will take you to the purchase page. The deals can be anything from discounts at restaurants, hair salons, retail stores and more.
Here's the important part: In the Donation Code box, type in 1dd2da. That will attach your purchase to us and Annapolis Green will receive a donation from Landmarks! The rest is self-explanatory.
We'll soon have a widget on the Annapolis Green website that will make the process even easier and will highlight the daily deals. Also, you can open an account and subscribe to LGD so you won't miss a thing.
Why are we doing this?
Landmarks Great Deals' goal is to compete with the big discounters such as Groupon to keep our shopping dollars local, right here in our area. This benefits our economy and every one of us. Since LGD is a 23-year old local company with some real roots in this market (and the other guys aren't), they have great relationships with in the community and continually come up with the best offers of any of the current deal sites.
As another way to giving back to the community LGD is donating a portion of its profits to worthy groups like ours - and we're the first!
Annapolis Green, as a non-profit, has a lot of work ahead promoting environmental initiatives and projects so we are exploring many fundraising opportunities. We are happy to be a partner of Landmarks Great Deals.
Part of sustainability is supporting our own - because without our locally owned, independent businesses, well, Annapolis just wouldn't be Annapolis!

Top of the Line
A huge crowd began Midnight Madness with Green Drinks last night as one of our largest turnouts ever filled the first floor of the historic Maryland Inn!
We were delighted to see people coming and going -- headed out to support our local businesses on one of the most enjoyable evenings of the holiday season. It was the perfect evening to put everyone in the holiday mood. Even the Three Wise Men, Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthasar, came for some holiday greening tips!

 We send out a big thank you to Historic Inns of Annapolis, and in particular General Manager Mike Radike, Kim Rooney, Pam Aber and Trish Brewer. They did a superb job with the delicious appetizers, particularly the potato/sweet potato bar, and with the organic wines other drinks. We had signs posted about Historic Inns' Green practices. Read here. We are so happy to bring new customers to good Green venues. That's part of our mission -- promoting local, sustainable businesses.
Many of you said that this was your first time or "first time in a long time" at the Maryland Inn. They remain an Annapolis favorite for your overnight guests, groups, special events and ... dinners. Don't forget: Historic Inns gave us Green Drinkers a 10% discount for dinner at the Treaty of Paris last night but that is also being offered for Midnight Madness Two on December 15th! Extreme Home Makeover Airs Tonight

An Extre me Makeover Home Edition build was completed a few weeks ago on the Eastern Shore and it will air tonight. Some of the heroes involved in this -- builder Fusion Companies; solar panel company Seven Seas; coffee supplier for the volunteers Chesapeake Bay Roasting; and landscaper Grow Landscape Design -- met at Green Drinks Annapolis!

Our friends at Chesapeake Regional Tech Council helped us kick off Green Drinks and we will join with them to rev up next Thursday's Midnight Madness Two following CRTC's 4th Annual Holiday InfoMixer on Thursday, December 15, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Westin Annapolis Hotel. Bring us your Corks for Recycling!
 Natural corks don't belong in a landfill. After they've done their job sealing in wine or champagne, they can have another life as part of shoes, flooring, and more. So although cork is a sustainable resource because the trees regrow the bark that is harvested -- why waste it?
Annapolis Green has partnered with recork.org to collect corks and send them to Recork for recycling. So bring them to our Green Drinks events from here forward and we'll make sure they get a second life! This applies to natural cork only -- not the plastic ones!
