In celebration of April's Earth Day, we are getting as close to the Bay as we can, offering both dockside and onboard experiences as we get better acquainted with our amazing neighbor: the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC). We'll have live music too -- three bands! This is the perfect event: educational and fun!
Our event is a fundraiser
for SERC's Education Programs

Starting with our gathering at the SERC docks from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m., SERC director Tuck Hines will tell us about the marvelous global work done by this local treasure right in our backyard. And SERC is providing an amazing example to all right on its campus with its solar electric shuttle, pervious walkways, a solar panel array and more. We'll be seranaded on land by SERC's very own band, Muddy Creek, AND the Stephanie Williams Band. Wow!
Then you'll have the option of boarding the Richard Lee to see and learn more about SERC from the water as we cruise the lovely Rhode River for about an hour enjoying appetizers, cash bar and soothing live music by Celtic hammered dulcimer virtuoso Maggie Sansone. Thank you so much to Captains VK Holtzendorf and Mike Shay for their hospitality! The boat will leave promptly at 6:30. Don't be left on the dock!

Don't forget to bring your name badges and your own glass, if you can. That helps us and the environment by reducing the number of disposable cups.

We'll have a great, sunny day for our event, the "SERC du Soleil!" Lynne couldn't resist the pun.
