Last Push for the Clean Water Act Bill

The Chesapeake Clean Water Act is still alive in the Senate but for it to be passed before this session of Congress ends we need to let our senators know that we are in favor of this bill. This is the last chance to pass this landmark legislation, which will provide more than $2 billion for clean water measures in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Read the latest. December Green Drinks Tonight!

It's all about Eating Well by Eating Local

Thursday, December 2, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Level: A Small Plates Lounge
69 West Street, Annapolis

Level is ready for us, with some really good drink specials and passed appetizers. We'll also have a very special espresso bar, courtesy of our friends at Chesapeake Bay Roasting Company. We love Level because of their awesome cocktails, and  because they source almost all of their food from local farms. That's perfect because our theme for this Green Drinks is local food and how good it is for us and for our local economy. See more info below, under "Eat Well, Eat Local."

Raffles: Wow, do we have great raffle items! First,  Local Food Beat's Sharon New, a food and health educator, has offered us a 90-minute consultation and a seat in her class, "Politically Incorrect Nutrition." It's a $100 value! Check out her website and Facebook Page. Then, Level and Sly Fox Tavern have each offered gift certificates. And finally, there will be something from Chesapeake Bay Roasting Company too!

Parking is on the street or a nearby city garage, or ride over in our specially decorated Green Drinks Holiday eCruiser! Wait till you see it!

You know we are all about supporting local businesses, so don't forget that  tonight is Midnight Madness! After Green Drinks, bundle up and step out to shops along Main Street, Randall Street, Upper West Street and Maryland Avenue to rejoice in the season with holiday music and carolers. Retail shops will remain open until the stroke of midnight and many offer hospitality in form of food and drink. It's loads of fun and a uniquely Annapolis event! Details
Shop Local, Shop Green

This is the 8th Annual Buy Local Week (Nov. 26-Dec. 5). Does it really matter where you shop? Yes! Click here to read what the Annapolis Sustainable Business Alliance has to say about buying local versus big-box stores and out-of-town chain stores.

And speaking of encouraging businesses to operate in an Earth-friendly way, we have created your own calling cards that YOU can leave at local businesses to let them know that your patronage is due to their "greenness" or that you won't if they don't make some effort to "green up." If you didn't get yours at the last Green Drinks you can download them here. Front | Back. These work well with Avery Business Cards #8877.
