Last Push for the Clean Water Act Bill

The Chesapeake Clean Water Act is still alive in the Senate but for it to be passed before this session of Congress ends we need to let our senators know that we are in favor of this bill. This is the last chance to pass this landmark legislation, which will provide more than $2 billion for clean water measures in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Read the latest. December Green Drinks

It's all about Eating Well by Eating Local

Thursday, December 2, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Level: A Small Plates Lounge
69 West Street, Annapolis

Level is one of our favorite places, not just for their awesome cocktails, but because they are very Green and also because they source almost all of their food from local farms. That's perfect because in December we will focus on local food and how good it is for you and for our local economy. See more info below, under "Eat Well, Eat Local."

Adding to our fun will be music from our favorite DJ, Jack McAdory. And we just know that owners John Hogan and John Miller (aka "Hollywood") will have some super original cocktails for us to enjoy at the cash bar in addition to their complimentary yummy, local, sustainable, organic appetizers.

Parking is on the street or a nearby city garage, or ride over in our specially decorated Green Drinks Holiday eCruiser!

Raffle:  Local Food Beat's
Sharon New, a food and health educator, has offered us a 90-minute consultation and a seat in her class, "Politically Incorrect Nutrition." It's a $100 value! Check out her website and Facebook Page.

Speaking of supporting our local merchants, don't forget that  December 2 is Midnight Madness! After Green Drinks step out to shops
along Main Street, Randall Street, Upper West Street and Maryland Avenue to rejoice in the season with holiday music and carolers and a special appearance from Old Saint Nick himself. Retail shops will remain open until the stroke of midnight and many offer hospitality in form of food and drink. It's loads of fun! Details

Also, we are in the midst of the 8th Annual Buy Local Week (Nov. 26-Dec. 5). Click here to read a release from the Annapolis Sustainable Business Alliance to learn why it is important to our economy to support local businesses rather than big-box stores or out-of-town chain stores.

Shop Local, Shop Green

And speaking of encouraging businesses to operate in an Earth-friendly way, we have created your own calling cards that YOU can leave at local businesses to let them know that your patronage is due to their "greenness" or that you won't if they don't make some effort to "green up." If you didn't get yours at the last Green Drinks you can download them here. Front | Back. These work well with Avery Business Cards #8877.
