The fun side of eco-awareness ... making serious connectionsWednesday, November 105:30 - 7:30 p.m. Get in the holiday spirit and join us tomorrow at Federal House, right at Market Space in Annapolis! We're hosting our second annual Green Marketplace ... and holding it early enough to kick off your Good Green holiday shopping! Let's salute and support our local merchants whose products are good for the Earth and good for our local economy!Federal House has implemented a lot of good Green practices, one of which is recycling, not only glass, paper and cans, but also oyster shells (through the Oyster Recovery Partnership) and cooking grease. We'll tell you all about it because in addition to holiday shopping, we'll be focusing on recycling too ... hoping that we can unite as a force to encourage more Annapolitans and their businesses to do their part.
And, did you know? November 15th is America Recycles Day, so our theme is very timely! In honor of this, the City of Annapolis is going to publicize and praise the city restaurants that are recycling under the City's commercial recycling program. But we suspect there are other Annapolis businesses quietly helping the environment in this way. If you know of one or are one, please notify Public Works' Cindy Tait so you can get some credit for your efforts! Cindy will join us at Green Drinks to answer your questions. Read more about the City's Commercial Recycling Program. Our Event At Federal House we're taking over the downstairs bar and the private upstairs space. Federal House will offer 10% off of the check as a "Green Drinks" special to encourage us to stay for dinner. Click here for the menu. Our event coincides with their happy hour from 4-7 p.m., which includes $2 domestic drafts, $3 import drafts, $3 rail drinks and $4 glass of house wine. Speaking of wine, the featured fruit of the vine will be from Maryland's Boordy Vineyards and they will offer Titos Organic Tequila in some featured cocktails for the evening. Our Holiday Green Market is bringing in a great line-up of local business for your shopping pleasure:
RaffleRainbarrels of Annapolis is donating an oak whiskey or wine rain barrel to our raffle! That's a $229 value! What a great holiday present that will help you keep your garden beautiful in dry times and will help to keep pollution out of our streams. InformationIf YOU have info to share, bring a flyer about it to Green Drinks for our bulletin board and tell us about it so we can help you publicize it: Send Elvia an email.Name BadgesHelp us save money & resources by wearing your own name badge from work, if you have one.
