Let' Ask for Some Green at the Boat Shows
What's wrong with this picture? The biggest annual events in Annapolis have started and we can't find any Greening initiatives at all.
Let's nudge these big events along to the road of sustainability by asking questions of the staff and management. When you go to the shows, ASK: Where are the recycling bins? What are you doing to reduce the carbon footprint of these events? What environmental message are you sending your customers and vendors?
If enough of us ask, they'll understand that along with a market for boats and accessories, there is a big market for Green! Let's use the power of our numbers and take action to encourage this company, that contributes so much to our local economy and is so much a part of our town, to get on the road to sustainability! ASK!

City Unveils Sustainable Parking
Today the City will unveil the reconstructed Gott's Court Garage Surface Parking Lot, which serves as the entry point for visitors to the Annapolis and Chesapeake Bay Conference and Visitors Bureau's Visitors Center near West Street. City and state officials helped secure green grant funding for this one-of-a-kind environmentally sustainable project, which was designed to fit in with the character of the Historic District. The lot provides parking for cars, bikes and scooters, and includes solar power pay and display as well as unique landscaping and engineering to handle heavy rainfall. The official event will be held from 1-1:30 p.m.
