See you tomorrow and a few updates below!

Thursday, August 5

5:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Annapolis Maritime Museum, 723 Second Street, Annapolis
as part of their summer concert series

In partnership with the Chesapeake Outdoor Group
and the Oyster Recovery Partnership
featuring the fun, live music of Them Eastport Oyster Boys

Green Drinks 5:30-7 p.m., Music 7-8:30 p.m.
Green Drinks will be inside the McNasby Building.
If it rains the concert will be held inside too.
Bring your lawn chair if you can.

Oysters, oysters, everywhere! Join us tomorrow for a great view, some fun, learning about oysters, seeing beautiful Bay images, enjoying tasty munchies and drinks and tapping your feet to great music from the Oyster Boys in an oyster packing house!

We're returning to the beautiful setting of the Annapolis Maritime Museum where the interactive exhibit "Oysters on the Half-Shell" is installed. Come and learn about oystering in the Annapolis area, see the implements and boats used and learn about how disease and environmental degradation has changed this industry that was once the lifeblood of this area and its people. The exhibit is housed in the McNasby building, one of the last local oyster packing plants to close.

The Oyster Recovery Partnership also will be on hand with an exhibit about its efforts to bring the oysters back to pre-pollution, pre-disease levels. Read about the Partnership and its Shell Recycling Alliance on our website.

We'll be joined by the Chesapeake Outdoor Group, fun folks who know how to have a good time while doing good for the environment -- just like us! Read more about COG and its upcoming 12 oz. Regatta, a really fun event for a good cause.

UPDATE:

Raffle - The Oyster Recovery Partnership will have a great raffle basket for us, full of cool ORP products!

Munchies - Since this is a bit of a diversion for us ... summer fun teaming up with the Museum, our usual sponsored appetizers are not happening.  Instead, there will be only simple munchies. We have partnered with Wild Country Seafood (across from the Museum's Barge House) who are anxious to serve us some great seafood to take out.  Also, Leeward Market (corner of Eastern Avenue and Second Street) will bring over light appetizers (like their great pizza) for purchase! Both establishments will be open, serving their full menu if you want to buy take-out to enjoy during the concert.

Help us be more Green! Bring your own wine glass or cup if you can.

Beer - Your favorites will be generously provided by Katcef Brothers and Bud Light Lime.

Organic Wines - Wines will be provided by VI Imports and include
Domaine Ferrer Ribière Cotes Catalanes Red & Domaine Ferrer Ribière Cotes Catalanes Blanc, Tetramythos Roditis White V.Q.P.R.D., and Bocopas Alicantes Co-op Ermita de Petrer Tinto 2008. Read more about these wines on our website.

And finally, enjoy Michael Land's beautiful photos of the Bay currently on display in the McNasby Building's Bay Room.

Them Eastport Oyster Boys, the duo of Jefferson Holland and Kevin Brooks and their band recently performed live on Maryland Public Television's "Chesapeake Bay Week," debuted as co-hosts of the Chesapeake travelogue series, "Seize the Bay," and were featured on German public television's MARETV program. When not lighting up the small screen, they've been delighting audiences throughout Eastport and even across the Spa Creek Bridge with their irrepressible brand of humorous "Chesapeake cruisin' tunes" inspired by living in a neighborhood where the best things in life are a "good hat, a good dog and a good boat." Their original songs, inspired by the Bay, swing from island rhythms to "Country/Western Shore," some poking fun at stinkpotters while others pay homage to the plight of the waterman.

Green is as Green Does

Folks, don't forget, we always provide recycling bins at our events. Do your part and put paper, plastic, metal, and just about anything except food in the recycling bins. If you don't know that to put where, just ask us. And if you can, bring your own wine glass or cup -- help us save plastic.

We're looking forward to our return to the Museum and to seeing you there! We'll have our events bulletin board and business card book there for you too.

Don't forget your name tag!

Elvia &  Lynne
