June Green Drinks Annapolis
Tomorrow, Tuesday, June 8 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. 143 Compromise Street
A night under the stars ... that's our June program ... a fun and exciting evening downtown at the Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre.
Our evening also will be a
joint event with Maryland Life Magazine, helping them "launch" their May/June issue that
contains an article on Green Drinks, "Raise a Glass to Green." Read it.
Not
only will we be
hearing about the new Green renovations at the Theatre, as it begins its 45th Season, but also taking
a sustainable look at
entertainment along with a few teasers to make sure we return for a show
this summer. And
speaking of the shows, the Theatre will offer our Green
Drinkers a special $8 discount on tickets to its next show -- The
25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee -- during its opening weekend, June 24-27, only if
you bring a specially marked brochure which you can only get at Green Drinks. Read about the Theatre's season. The first part of the Theatre's renovation began in March and it has some Green features including Geothermal heating and air conditioning. The Theatre has implemented recycling and the use of reusable water bottles as well as use of recycled or reclaimed materials as much as possible. What are we drinking? Thank you to the Kona Brewing Company for providing Kona Longboard Island Lager, a smooth refreshing lager fermented and aged for five weeks at cold temperatures to yield its exceptionally smooth flavor. A delicate, slightly spicy hop aroma complements the malty body of this beer. Based in Hawaii, the company has a commendable environmental ethic. Read more.
Our wines, thanks to Mills Fine Wine & Spirits, will include Orleans Hill Winery's Our Daily Red and a white. Their wines are organic, sulfite-free and vegan-friendly. Read more. Based in Nevada City, California, they have been making organic wine for 20 years and they have an interesting write-up on the benefits on screwcaps versus corks. Read it.
What are we eating?
Yum! eCruisers member restaurants are providing appetizers! Luna Blu will provide Antipasto
platters. Galway Bay will offer an appetizer of hydroponic bib lettuce (produced at Chesapeake Green House, LLC, located just over the bridge in Sudlersville) with a natural chicken and green chili salsa filling. Harry Browne's and Federal House will provide us with fab apps too, but they're keeping it a mystery for now.
To cap the evening off we're having a sort of "dine-a-round." Participating eCruisers member restaurants are inviting you to join them afterward ... and arrive, yes, via an eCruisers electric shuttle. Try it out!
If you take an ecruiser ride to Luna Blu after Green Drinks, they will give you a coupon for a free glass of wine with dinner! (Luna Blu
would like you to know that they will be open for the First Sunday Arts
Festivals through October, with 1/2-price on bottles of wine those days.) If you visit Galway Bay, you'll be treated to a specially created Maker's Mark Green cocktail, "The Green Mark!" This is a special cocktail $9 cocktail being offered to Green Drinkers for $4.50 if you go to Galway Bay following the Green Drinks event. Just mention Green Drinks to get the 50% discount! Read more about the cocktail.
Raffle prizes
We've having a great raffle: An overnight stay at Loews Annapolis Hotel, $25 gift certificates from Luna Blu and Galway Bay, and, from Maryland Life Magazine, a gift "basket" that holds CDs from local Annapolis artists and a high-end decoy from Canvasback Gallery in Easton. The gift "basket" itself is actually an artistic mosaic vase from Gallery 26 in Easton, by artist Jennifer Wagner.
If you'd like to volunteer to help us with this event, please contact Lynne.
Note to the ladies: Wear flats! The
Theatre's "floor" is gravel. You don't want your heels stuck. Bring your name tags!
The weather forecast for Tuesday is perfect -- 65 to 77 degrees and clear... perfect for Theatre under the stars and dinner after!
See you tomorrow.
